    I see the party started with out me (Mark VIII Driver).


    The info not being said here is how this race came to be... I heard this guy with a GTP was talking crap. (This was Wen night)
    "It's never seen tail lights"
    So I said, "Well hell, I'll race him with the wifes car".
    The reply I got was "Oh, the GTP is not stock. It has aftermarket everything".
    Me-"and..."
    the Reply-"Well he runs race gas, so he will only race for $100"
    Me-"Well if he wants a money race, it's a $1000 and I bring my mustang. If he wants a free race, he can race the wifes car."
    the Reply-"...... "
    Me-"Ah F--k it. Lets go to the ATM"
    the Reply- "Uh, he can't do it tonight. We will have to wait till thurs or fri"
    Me-"Well I have plans till midnight thurs and it's going to get cold, but whatever"

    Then you see what became of thurs night..

    You think tires won that. HA. I spun, shifted INTO 2nd at 3500rpm, spun through 2nd and PULLED away the whole time. POWER won that race- plain and simple.

    The car weighs 3800lbs EMPTY, so with the two of us riding in it over 4000lbs



    Moral of the story, don't act like your the fastest car around. There are plenty of faster ones. (including faster ones than mine)

    Gear ratio helped out then on the race. Running 4.56 to the op's 2.93 or 3.29. Doesn't seem like your wifes mark would make more than about 30hp over stock? Not real sure on that though.

    Without getting into a full trans ratios and final drive ratios debate. I'll focus on the highlights.

    What is Jared's max rpm before he shifts? - 5000rpm?
    The white Lincoln is 7500rpm, so it need the gear to get it up on it's power band. It has 2500 rpms more than Jared to spin before the shift.

    Think about it like this. A bike typically has a 14,000rpm red line. Now I don't know off the top of my head, but think about how short the gearing is on those to get them up on their powerband.

    Now in saying all that, I shifted into 2nd (1-2 shift) at 3500rpm. (you can hear it in the video) Then I got WOT in 2nd, and shifted out at 5000rpm on the 2-3 shift (...on one race, 6800rpms on the other race)

    He shifts at stock shift points, because he has stock valve springs. He isn't taking full advantage of his valvetrain mods (rockers) and should be running it to about 6K-6200, 5500 RPM isn't cutting it.

    I saw it, you have dumb gearing in that car, of course you're going to yank that car from a dig and make it look way worse than it really is. Go run it from a 40 or 60 roll. It'll be a totally different ball game.

    2005 Grand Prix GTP CompG. Overkill PCM, ZZP S2 I/C, ZZP MPS W/ 3.3" pulley, 1.9 YT rockers, 42.5# injectors, Moroso wires and AL104 plugs, 180 Thermostat, LS4 MAF.
    Front PLOG, Rear PLOG, crossover, all ceramic coated. ZZP 3" Downpipe and 3" exhaust pipes with Borla S-Type mufflers.

    I understand that you need the gear. I did hear you spinning in the video were your tires not warmed up? GP's suck to try to get traction in anyway jarred might need a driver mod and drag radials?

    It was 20 degrees out that night. DRs don't help when the streets that cold.

    The Mark was pulling the whole time. If you cant see that by watching the vid, i don't know what to tell ya.

    I highly doubt you're in first gear at 40 or 60 mph, with 4.56 gearing.
