So, I got to pick up this 2011 RS Camaro from the dealership to drive it in our Christmas parade. Nice car, but not as fast as my GTP.

must have a super awsome gtp
The 2011 V6s are only rated 312HP to the crank... Not hard to beat that with a GP, especially with the way the tunes are from the factory on the Automatic Camaros.
It was definitely not as fast as my car. From a stop I have much quicker acceleration than the RS. I even turned off the TC button and put it in manual to try to do a burnout. It just barely chirped the tires
It was a nice car, and it had pretty good pickup after 50. I only brought her up to 90ish on the freeway. I would like to try the SS now. Has anybody ever run one of these? What are their stock 1/4 mile times?
You shoulda got a manual. My sisters husband just got a 2012 SS/RS, and he doesn't have any issues breakin em loose.
Most run's I've seen have been low 13's, seen some high 12's too. They're ok, but nothing too special for the price. Considering stock LS1's and 03/04 Cobras have been known to run the same.
plus they weigh almost 2 tons... that has alot to do with it too...
I love playing with them here in lawrence cuz its always some frat kid that thinks hes hard...
that one's even a convertible
He also has over 100hp more than the one I was driving.
I asked the dealer for an SS. He didn't want people that were "borrowing" these vehicles to have too much power. Damn that møtherfücker!
He knew we would have smoked the tires..... Oh well. I wouldn't buy one after driving it around. Even the misses likes the GTP more than the camaro. She likes telling people she drives a sleeper.

no i was looking at an article on the trailing arms, or wait no it was on power block or one of those shows. the cars were wheel hopping whenever they tried to burnout (mainly just automatics) but they replaced the arms with the ones from lakewood and it launched better. and was able to burn em instead of wheel hop
Camaros should never have gotten less than 8 cylinders, I would rather have a Mustang GT than a v6 Camaro, Coyote 302, yes please. Honestly GM hasn't impressed me with much in the last few years other than the ZR1, even the Camaro SS's are castrated off the line, even with tractions control and Stabilitrac off. The pickups have kind of been left behind, if I had $100,000 to spend on a truck and a car I would get a new Sportsman Ram and a new Mustang GT or a Challenger SRT8, possibly a Corvette. I have driven plenty of new Camaros and although they are nice cars I'm not impressed with what they are compaired to what they shoud be.
The truth is so far away...
The reason is computer programming and what they call Torque Management. Same reason why my friends truck won't boil the tires with a 6.0L from the line. He will chirp them and then go, tuning is required to allow the TM to really work right for aggressive performance.
Remember, our GPs (97-03 anyways) are throttle/cable driven, the newer ones and Maros and most new GMs are all computer driven with electronic throttle bodies. Ruins alot of fun, but saves tires, gets better launches most of time, and is more efficient.
