I raced against a 04 or newer Grand Prix from 75mph to about 110....lame I know, but the speed limit was 60mph and we were doing a little over 80mph before we slowed down next to each other. I am trying to find out what model I raced.

The color was an off green and it had dual aftermarket exhaust that was pretty loud. Also had a ram air hood and tint, fully debadged. I'm assuming he had an intake if he spent money on exhaust, but not sure of that.

I won the race....but barely. He got the jump b/c he never honked and got on it hard. I was in 4th gear, but should have been in 3rd with VSA off so I would hit VTEC sooner. He pulled quarter car and then I cam back to the point where his mirrors were at the back of my door.

My CL-S is stock w/ 260 horsepower to the crank

It had to have been a GTP b/c I know a GT or base model wouldn't even stand a chance. I'm just wondering if it was a GTP(possibly ram air package if they make it) or a ****ty GXP driver lol

BTW, I also raced a GTO with a supercharger and cams just to see him destroy me...I'm in love with the GTO He pulled football fields and waved good bye lol

Most simple way to figure this out is by asking...

Did you hear the blower? Even a stock GTP is loud enough to hear it. Although if he lost with those mods, sorry to say but he was a pretty ****ty driver.

I didn't hear the blower...windows were up and my engine was revving pretty high.

And no, it wasn't a ****ty driver...GTP's are freakin autos...

I'de say stock for stock the CL-S auto is just as fast as a 04+ GTP(drivers race). Sure it has the same amount of horsepower, but 40 less torque...BUT the gearing on the CL-S is much better.

    5-speed auto gearing:
1st gear- dunno how many mph
    2nd gear- 65mpg
    3rd gear- 110mph
    4th-gear- 155mph
    5th gear- gas saver

6-speed is even lighter then the CL auto...for every extra 100lbs of weight there is about 7hp reduction

Add headers to a CL/TL-S and you can free up 15-25HP(thats the biggest mod for my car). Exhaust/Pulleys doesn't do much for me like you guys

Anyways...it was a good race, I was probly just the better driver. Plus GTP's are weak from 80mpg+, but I was also in my weakest gear, 4th, when I should have been in 3rd

BTW, that GTO was sooo loud. It had custom side exhaust and it rumbled so loud I could feel it in my chest in my car next to it

I couldn't ask the guy. He wouldn't get beside me after the race and I had to exit about 3 miles later

I am saying it is impossible to be a bad driver with an auto. You could gate shift or just floor it. You can't really mess up unless you redline gateshifting and he certainly didn't

i agree. all you got to do is floor it with an auto. not much driver skill needed. plus it was a roll. that takes out all driver error. did you notice red brake calipers. 04-05 gtps have red brake calipers but 06+ does not so idk. if it had an intake you would have deff heard it. even on stock pulley and my friend in his accord V6 with an intake. and its the loudest F'IN intake i have ever heard on a honda. you can literly hear it half a mile away. he can still hear my supercharger over his intake when hes on it. so you would have been able to hear it. with the stock air box its not all that loud. and i wouldent necicerly say gtps are weak from 80 plus. mine pulls pretty good to 125 ( top of third) ive held m3's off on the highway. i also pull altimas above 90 so its not all that weak. i would say you raced a gtp with catback only.

    your stock right??
have you ever had it to the track??

I'm sticking with the fact that it was probably a modded, non supercharged GT.

that is still very much an option also. that is what i was thinking at first. i think you should have been able to hear the blower whine.

you shoulda down shifted to 3rd and put lengths on that N/A GP. 6 speed DOHC VTEC is way better than the N/A 3.8. the top end sucks on these cars

yea I should have down shifted, but I was pulling on the gp in 4th(my worst gear) @ 3-4rpm and thought it was kinda funny. I GXP no doubt should beat me...its a V8, but my car can also go 155mph before it hits the governer. I wouldn't ever drive that fast again though. Did it in my dads 350z, but once was enough for me. I did notice red brake calipers and before we ever got on the highway his wheels were the kind that have curved spokes

Now I got headers/intake...keeping up with stock G35's and 350z's now I can't wait to race some mustang GT's(autos) and WRX's on the highway

BTW, don't think I'm bashing any of your cars...I respect cars based on there performance. I am not biased by brand name.

nice work, i always liked the CL's i saw one at the track one night with a Zex kit on it, the car was going in the mid 13's with very little money invested in it

yea headers alone add 15-30 wheel horsepower!...dyno proven. I wasn't convinced b/c normally a full cat back only gives 4-12HP. I actually got my headers installed yesturday. The car feels like a totally different animal...much more responsive and throaty. Pulls sooo much harder through the whole rpm range. It adds about 10whp throught the rpm's until v-tech then it adds up to 30whp

I guess headers are kinda like what pulleys are for GP's...

curved spokes. red brake calipers. 04 gtp comp G. good run. dont feel to bad about starting in 4th cause he was at the bottom of his 3rd. even tho if you were in 3rd you would have had a better pull. 6 speed kills 4 speed. and no you swaping out pullies wont help you out as much as us. it wont give you more boost out of the supercharger

so it was a comp G? Sweet!

BTW, I do not have the 6-speed CL-S which is a full half second faster 0-60! I have the 5-speed automatic with sport shift. 6-speeds were only available for one year(2003)

    O. and I wasn't saying that adding a pulley to my car would be like adding one to yours. I was saying adding headers to my car is like adding a pulley to yours.

I hope I run into this guy again. Maybe we could try a dig and roll from around 30-40. I'm suprised I beat a lightly modded comp g...they are supercharged right?

Any other GP owners from STL?

My GFs brother 04 CompG, you couldn't hear the blower on it at all. He was complaining to me about it and he was right. A cone bolted on the MAF fixed that problem for him. Night and day difference sound wise.

the GTP will get you out of the hole, just cause of the torque, they have no topends. you would take him from the top because of your DOHC. the altima i have from enterprise makes no power till 4000rpm, but it screams to 6000, the transmission wont let the car rev any higher, stupid auto stik!
