    i think they strongly believe what they race to be a true cobra when in the mustang community everyone wants a cobra and just add cobra bumpers and wheels to gt and sad to say rrrrr v6s. i had a 97 cobra and with exaust and a couple boltons,with sticky tires ran high 12s all day long and you dont see many stock ones running around but i guess anything is possible.

    "For 1996, Ford finally did away with the aging 5.0 liter V8 in the Mustang, replacing it with a new aluminum 4.6 liter, DOHC, "modular" unit that was smoother and had slightly better fuel economy. This engine produced 305 hp (227 kW) and 300 lbf·ft (410 N·m) of torque, making the new Cobra capable of high-13 second quarter miles."

    The modular debuted in 1991 in the Town Car. The 4v 4.6 surfaced in 1993 in the Mark series.
