the guy wasnt a bad driver, i dont understand though how our cars, or my car spins tires to 40 mph, yes without t/c on but the cobalt launched with barely any tire spin, maybe he didnt mash into the throttle like i did, or maybe it was just turbo lag? he didnt brake boost i know that.

and that seems about right, that cobalt ran 13.6 stock, this cobalt turbo was stock as well, my friend went to the track and ran a 13.62 with a 2.3 60 foot with 238 whp, so pretty comparable

Maybe he left his TC on? I've also read about some cobalt ss/tc owners saying they are only seeing 6-7 psi in first, then full boost through the rest of the gears. Maybe they make limited boost in the first couple of gears similar to the mazda 3? There's a ss/tc guy around here somewhere, i bet he knows.

I know my SS/SC would only make 5-6 Lbs in 1st, but 1st was so short it's useless anyhow. 2nd is the money gear, at least it was in my SS/SC.

SS/TC's do have launch control, he probably used that if he didn't have a whole lot of tire spin. Anyone that can drive can get a better launch without launch control though.

Also...I'd like to point out on factory cars nowadays...turbo lag is a thing of the past.

It still has a little lag, that's just a limitation of the technology, but it does spool up pretty quickly. Its a pretty small turbo so the engine has no trouble spoiling it quickly.

And yes, boost is limited to 5lbs in first gear only. We're tried raising the limit, and all it causes it to do is spin. 2-5th gear is full boost though.
