ugh this section
You can still have a mustang and be respected here, look at slowpoke. But you have to admit mustangs get bashed on more than any other cars, even civics.
It was a 5 speed. I don't know if it had a gt40 head I just know he said "40" something intake. I have a cone filter, crossover pipe wrappedn and freed up exhaust. That's it. I found online on several places that the 03 mach1 was 305 hp vs 260 for the regular gt. A 5.2 0-60 for the mach 1. Car and driver got these numbers. I didn't find any actual numbers for the basic gt online. The bullit is closer at 265 hp, 5.7 and 14.1. Driver is the deal breaker in the race I think.
Nevar!!
my first car was a mustang. '86 convertible. hated every second of it. i just feel like everyone and their sister has one. and there are just way too many people that think their 6cyl mustang is the bees knees (especially girls)...that's my reasoning. i'm not saying that i think grand prix's are the best car out there or anything, but it fell in my lap and i love driving it. it's different than all my friends' mustangs, and some day i will be able to beat them...
I love how this sites says that there are a ton of mustangs out there and everyone drives them and they are grandma cars and.........
Yet the GP I own was bought from a grandmother. There are a crap load of them out there and just about every age has them.
Only difference is the 2 door vs 4 door.
The Mustang just like the Camaro relies on the V6 sales to keep them in the game. As far as I have ever seen anyone over 18 that shows up to a dealership with the $ can drive home whatever they want. The dealers only see the $ they don't care what leaves the lot.
The 00 mustangs compared to the 03 stangs should be different as far as number of HP and TQ. The 99 was a step up and then in 01 I think they upgraded them a bit and in 03 or 04 once again using the SN95 chasis.
Not a mustang fan, but as a motor guy you cant help, but hear about them.
99-04 mustang GT's all have around 265 hp and 303 trq. The step up you are talking about was between 98-99. Better flowing heads, or pi heads, put out an extra 40 or so hp. Ford used the same fox chassis for all the mustangs from the late 70's all the way up to 04. Granted, tweeks and improvements had been made over the years, but they rode out that aging unibody design till the bitter end.
As far as GTs go, there isn't much difference between 99-04. Same goes for the sixer. The Cobras are worlds apart from 01 to 03-04. That's a story for another day though.
I thought the MAF was changed in 01 to a full 70mm or something like that. In 03 the rear gear options changed and became much simpler to order and 04.......by that time I was too far married and into diesels to care about them.
They were suttle changes, but if you ordered them correctly they put out more than was stated. IMO the SN95 is a glorified Foxbody, but it doesn't matter. Both platforms are long gone.
ok well one vid shows 231 with an exhaust only. both on dynojet dynos. the next shows 242 with tune, 3.73's, exhaust, and h pipe. of course it depends on where these car are located, altitude, temp, ect but you get the idea gxp has around 300lbs on the stand i think

this shows 262 with just catless downpipe and cutout

Like many have said...what i hate is seeing a mustang around every corner and alot of people who have them think theyre the fastest things ever. Of course thats the case with alot of cars. Mustangs and probably civics id have to say are just he most noticable being as popular as they are. The GT mustang is a bit of a dog after they went to the 4.6 and im not by any means impressed by them. However the supercharged cobras and salleens are pretty badass ill have to admit. Im not a real ford guy either soo maybe thats part of the reason. Hey at least theyre american....we can give them that and come on now most of us drive V6 grandma cars after all haha. It is interesting to me though to see what kind of sports cars our sporty grandma cars can keep up with or beat. I can admire anybody that puts money sweat and blood into a car they love whether its fast or not.
