Riding home on 202 at a nice cruise i approach a red light. As i sit there alone I see a cluster of headlight in my rearview. Looking for someone to jump out. And as soon as I take my eyes out the rearview. A red early 2000 P71 speed past full throttle. I open up throttle and attempt to catch up. I reach as far as his rear quarter panel before I realize my turn is approaching quickly. So I brake it down and switch lanes to finish my journey home. One question should I have been able to pass him? (Side note: my cat is clogged and I have one bad muffler)

P71 package is just a suspension upgrade for the most part. The old panther platform has seen better days. If he did a J-mod and lightened the Driveshaft it would help. Some take the Explorer motor which is about 200lbs lighter and the intake gives a lot more torque. Those can move pretty well for an old heavy car.

Ya my crown isnt a p71 its an lx but it moves good for what it is p71 is the first part of the vin p71 cop car suspension and dual exhaust along with a better tune and 3.55 gears posi most of the time and lighter drive shaft p72 not sure p73 longer wheelbase used for taxis and p74 lx civi model usually sigle exhaust 2.73 gears non posi

when i first got my gtp my wife and i went head to head her in the gtp and it was close stock for stock

03+ crowns can take the corba engines as well as the 5.4's
mines an 01 i still wanna do a 5.4 and a sts turbo swap on it

With mods they can be decent on speed cruising at 85-90 it still has a lot of peddel left
