I'm basically saying that Civic's are gay. I do like fast cars but having a powerful motor in something as unattractive as a Civic is stupid to me.
Just my opinion...
and you are entitled to your own opinion
What were Chevy Nova's back in the day?
They were econo-boxes...now, they're likely the most popular drag car among GM followers.
Ah the civette
Dude do it from a dig you will like the out come alot better than that damn 60 roll. Our cars aren't good on rolls that high anyways. Trust me I know civics, and I'm starting to know a little bit about grand prixs. It will be a way better race.
^Just to be clear, i wasn't being sarcastic lol
good info there^^. Right now im on 5psi, im unsure of what timing is, since i don't have any tuning software, when dave went through my pcm, he said it was real low. 12psi range? with the timing to complement it? I would guess with the 3.6" i would have around 6-9 psi? would 12psi be safe for my L36 bottom end?
I'll have to get a few more pulleys to bring with me when i go to tunetime and get dyno tuned, id like to hold off on the i/c until late summer time when work picks up.
So what im getting is, timing and boost kind of go hand in hand?
yes and no. i liked my car to have low timing and high boost because of how it ran. both are very competitive up to a point where the parasitic loss of the blower overcomes the extra power the boost will make. timing is basically "free" power, so it is better go to that way. however, how much boost are you running right now? these cars tend to run very well in the 12 psi range with timing to complement it.
you have enough mods to run the 3.4 with low timing, or a 3.6 with higher timing. its really a trade off that youll have to make for yourself. my car felt like a monster in mid range because i was still pushing 24* of timing, but once i went WOT and it dropped down to 14* then it didnt feel as fast (this was on the 3.2 pulley making about 12 psi). more timing will make the quick, neck snapping car we all like. more boost will make the car more fluid and seem to fall on its face even when its not.
Blue, yes I was kidding for the most part.... I do think if they are both stock that the gxp's are a bit faster exspecially at that speed, I've raced my buddy many times when he had his 00 gtp and it was never that close at those speeds for me, who knows maybe it was just his car tho.
baby steeps grass hopper bio.
i can bearly get away with the 3.5 on my lower compression set up. us having the same mods with his higher compression, i think the 3.4 will have to wait. unless you just want to run really low timing.
If you are intercooled, have headers and rockers there is no reason you shouldnt run a 3.0. Just need some injectors and a tune.
add timing feels great. added boost felt pretty good too, more lowend torque, but it also screams up top too.
personaly i would not want to run lots of boost with low timing. but i would also not want to run lots of timing with low boost. i kinda like an even trade off.
im sure both set ups could come out to the same power wise tuned properly. it would more mainly be down to you, which on feels better to you.
