I'm new here, found this thread through a search and thought I'd try and clear up some info (afterall, the thread is pretty recent).

First and foremost, I want to say that yes, I understand trucks aren't racecars, and due to aerodyamics, gearing, and several other factors, the playfield isn't exactly even. But that doesn't stop us from having a little fun

How are you sure he was boosted?

If he had "TRD" badges on the side and a hood scoop, good chances are it wasn't an X-Runner, but it was a PreRunner with the TRD Sport package (everything is color-keyed, hood scoop, TRD badging on the bedsides). The X-Runners have no TRD badges anywhere, but a color keyed "X-Runner" on the tailgate, so it's usually difficult to spot.. and they're pretty low and have a full body kit surrounding the truck -- they also only come in blue, red, and black.

Now -- back to the part about whether or not this truck was boosted, the 4.0 2005+ tacomas with minor bolt ons and a good driver are in the high 14's (even the lifted PreRunners, on slicks the X-Runners are hitting mid-low 14's (the 4x4's are a bit slower, obviously due to weight).

However, the 2005+ tacomas that ARE boosted (either with TRD(eaton) roots type, or the URD centrifugal blowers) are always in the 13's, some in the 12's. This goes for everything but the 4x4's, but even some of those are in the 13's on the 1/4 mile.

Personally, I drive an S-Runner (came before the X-Runner) so I have no reason to come here and spout B.S., just some friendly info.

For some proof (videos and timeslips) so you guys don't take offense, you're more than welcome to check out this specific thread over at CustomTacos.com:

New record for TRD boosted 2 - CustomTacos.com Forum

Where once the TRD blowers were finally released to the public after a ridiculous amount of R&D time, Tacoma owners were able to put them to the test. The first post of the owner running a 13.1 with timeslips and video is not an X-Runner, it's you're average everyday off-roadable PreRunner.

With all that said, I'm a big fan of the GTPs! And I find it very, very hard to believe that the truck you raced was supercharged (be it the TRD roots, or the URD centrifugal). There's tons of info on that site about tacomas, especially the fast ones.

Just for kicks, check out this video of an S-Runner (toyota's best kept secret, imo), blown @10psi, on slicks, and a 150shot (otherwise bone stock motor and drivetrain, not built at all) blowing out of the hole and killing a brand new Nissan GTR (pulled an 11.7 on that run, I believe). This truck turned some heads that day

Again, sorry if any of my post is breaking any forum rules. Just a friendly car enthusiast sharing some facts and opinions. Looking forward to any replies, and feel free to check out some sick tacos over at customtacos.

The tacomas still aren't full-size -- but with the governer knocked out, a few of us have reached 145+ (on a closed course, of course ) before running out of safe road. These runs were all verified by GPS and I can link to videos for proof if you'd like.

Gotcha Re-reading your OP it makes more since that you were pretty even from 65mph - 120mph. It's the zero-65 where the trucks really shine.

I didn't realize you had the s/c'd GTP, I thought you were N/A. Since you heard the whine it was definitely the TRD blower, but I'm betting it was a PreRunner still, not the X-Runner since it had the TRD badging on the bedsides.

After all, a 13.1 second ET with 99mph trap speed is pretty unimpressive But the drag equivalent of a brick and the weight of that truck plus wheel/tire weight and size, you can't really expect much better.

Even when I race, I like to keep it at the 1/8 mile or shut down around 80mph to make sure it still looks quick

Anyhow, good run! For trucks they're pretty darn quick -- and if you ever catch one wanting to run from a dig, make sure you're ontop of your game!

    Cheers,
