...Yeah, do them right and spend your money wisely... by adding some sort of forced induction because n/a just isn't cutting it
I wont say all that because I actually test drove a GXP to when they came out an i noticed a difference But not a real big difference. I wasnt that happy about the power that i was suspecting out of it. Now the G8 GTs whole different story i test drove one of those too an easily noticed a difference in that one.
I think it was the weight too that put me in the lead over the SS. I mean if we was to keep on racing im sure he would of eventually started pullin on me but for the race that we did i got the win! Nice run at Purple Plazma too on the N/A GT. I was thinkin low 16's like everyone else were sayin about the GT'S 1/4 mile run.
I did a 15.3@88 with zzp d/p, overkill pcm, and plog. No way in hell you pulled on anything up top.
With a top speed limited to (I believe) 108 m.p.h. in stock form, if the GT was ahead before that m.p.h. then it shut off, that would be the extent of the race for the Grand Prix. Based on the speed I achieved with my '07 Monte SS (136 indicated with a bit more to go), the Impala should come close to that.
By the way, my avatar is of my '98 GT when I was waiting in the staging lanes at the track.Guess I shouldn't have used a yellow highlighter on my time slip as it turned real dark Maybe it was the type of paper that's used for the slips.
Back in '98 I test drove the GT & the GTP back to back. The GTP of course felt quicker but not nearly as quick as the '98 automatic Trans Am I also tested. That thing was scary powerful and accelerated WAY quicker than either Grand Prix. Couldn't afford the Trans Am or even the GTP so I got the GT. Actually drove down to a dealership in Delaware( 1 state south of me at the time) to pick it up. I told the dealership if I get the car, I'm gonna be the one that drives it back.
Unless you spot the "GTP" emblem on the side of my current car, it looks exactly like the GT I had 11+ years ago.
I got an identical 60ft as op...nice try though. Drive a gt? you make it seem like its a fast car or something, at the track the tires didn't even chirp . I pulled a 1 mph faster trap then the op, which would make sense due to my little mods. Don't those Ls4's trap somewhere around 95ish? But no, your have a crazy fast, dinner plate, pumpkin carriage, that traps 150 in the 1/4 wtf was i thinking...
i think a gt can definantly get a 16 sec pass
I'll have my wife scan and post a few more of the time slips for both the '98 GT and my '07 Monte SS for anyone that's curious what a non-professional "any man" kinda guy like me can achieve with some practice at the local drag strip.
The OP is a moron there is no way he pulled on an impala ss in a stock gt with big ass rims
you people are way too critical on the cars in question. could he have pulled on a four deep impala ss in a gt with just him in it? sure. you act like the ss is a fast car to begin with. its a heffer with a crappy v8 at best.
Here's a couple more from the '98 GT. These are the two closest in performance to the quickest 15.47 I already posted. The slower of these two was when the car was BONE stock.
Also, here's a few of when I had my new Monte Carlo SS at the strip back in May of '07.
so what are you trying to say? he COULDNT have pulled on a monte ss with 4 people in the car or he could have?
That side by side pic of the 2 red Monte SSs sitting at the line shows me next to a supercharged Monte SS. They have the same engine as my GTP. It was owned and raced by a female. Her e.t. for that run was a 15.497 @ 91.83 as seen in my post above. I walked that older Monte pretty bad.

99 prix Gt U just tryna start up a whole entire pointless arguement again.. Im not going to argue with u no point too but, im pretty sure i can easily crack 16's in the 1/4 if i take off my 20''s an put on my stock tires at the drag ill post my slips when i go up there. An this race cant really qualify drag times of either car because for 1. Purple plazma was probably the only driver when he ran those good times in the monte(not 4 deep) an 2 we raced from a 35 to 40ish roll up to about 80 not a dead stop to 1/4 run. Now if anybody knew how fast a slightly modded gt jumps from 40 to 80mph an a SS Impala jump from 40 to 80mph then it could relate more to the race that i was in. Crazy how this is a GRAND PRIX forum but yet nobody wants to give me props on a race that i won in a GRAND PRIX. Well MOSTLY everybody quick to down my prix rather than give good compliments
