Someone told me to keep traction control off when racing. Why.Should it be off from when racing from a dead stop?
well if you know how to drive it is better to race with it off
If TCS kicks in it will kill your launch. On or off you need to control your right foot... if you screw up with TCS off you will spin out, with it on you will have no power once your wheel slips. Just try to spin out on a gravel road while you have TCS on and you will see what I mean.
Nemo has it right. Even if you spin just a little bit with TC off you will have a faster launch than with TC on.
TC will cut spark and/or fuel to keep your tires from spinning. Obviously we don't want to do that as we need both to make power. That's why we turn it off for racing because we can get better launches by controlling our foot than allowing the computer to rob power.
also when the low traction light comes on and as long as it is on the computer continues to pull timing/ cut out fuel during that time.
