Yesterday I went to the track for the first time ever. My goal was just to get into the 14s since the track is at high altitude (4252 feet). I only got four passes in because one lane got shut down early, but I got a best time of 14.871 @ 93.30 with a 2.161 60' on 91 octane gas. I was pleased with that. Anybody else here ever race at high altitude too?

I race at the highest track in the nation, if you want to come it's in Evanston, Wyoming.

lol I just looked it up, they call it Hypoxia hahahaha
What do you run up there? Not sure I'd drive 2 hours to get up there so I could break my transmission, but it'd be a fun trip.

13.9 with an intercooler, 2.8, and rockers? I would've thought you'd be faster than that.

it's an 1/8th mile track so there's less stress on the transmission, usually only get up to 80 mph. my car is slow and has only run a 9.77 at best, but it should be faster this year, you could come and see try to break my transmission if you wanted. Evanston is only 90 miles from salt lake and 80 miles from ogden.

Ah, I didn't realize it's an 1/8th. Still, my car has 165,000 and original trans, so I'd rather not take the risk. I just went the one time yesterday because I was dying to know what my car would do... still tempting though haha But I'm in Orem, so it is closer to two hours away. Do they have a website?

it was cold and i was spinning, everyone was. it was 45 or less degrees out. at any rate i had just installed meth and it was not fully tuned in yet. it is now, with a whole new tune and 4 more degrees wot timing. low 13's seem to be in reach if it hooks up. i also have a set of dr's for track use only. cost to much to daily drive em.

Ah, that makes more sense. Yeah, I was spinning on launch even up at this altitude if I wasn't careful, and the track was prepped and everything, about 80 degrees outside.

Hm. I'll consider that. Depends on if I'm scheduled for work. It changes from week to week.

30 and you can go as many times as you want, it's a good crowd, not too many but it's getting more popular every year. I usually manage 5-6 runs a day, but with the water/methanol I started spraying I might be able to get more runs in.

Shared album - MrScottydoggs - Google Photos i got some mountains where i am, but your view wins 100%. from the crappy stands same race. you can really hear me spinning from outside.

right lane sucked a dick. it was all wash-boarded up with rubber, like burning out on hwy rumble strips. Shared album - MrScottydoggs - Google Photos

I'm in Tucson. Track elevation is 3074 ft. The DA is typically mid 5000's. It sucks.

Haha yup, it's been 5000-6000 here the last few days. I think it would be interesting to take my car on a road trip to California or somewhere else low elevation just to feel the power difference. It was very noticeable when I took my N/A Impala to Sacramento last year.
