how wide is the stock comp g rim. I've read that it's 7" but also read 6.5". ultimately I want to know the widest tire I can run on this wheel.

It is 17x6.5
Perfect 245 it is. I should have no issues with a 6.5" and a 245?
They won't be as good in the snow compared to 225's.
But many guys run 245/50/16's on the factory 16x6.5 wheels. No idea what you'll need to run on a 17in rim, 245/45/17?
I run dedicated snow tires @ 215 so that's not a problem
Im still getting mixed info from research. Ive read 235 is the biggest u can go on a 6.5 wheel. What should I be getting? I want as much traction as I can get off the stock rims. I will eventually be getting a tranny and DR's but for street use I want the stock rims as I have no interest in different rims.
245's can be done.
If you're just wanting traction, you'll need to look into tire brand and style instead of size.
Cheap tires won't grip but grippy tires won't last and will cost alot. I know you won't be running them all year so tread wear isnt a huge concern.
Im replacing gforce sports so I know I have to buy a performance tire. Just doing research to see what would be better than those and still keep a 300 treadwear.
I have 245s on 7" rims. It works, but I know Im missing out on a little full width of the tire. 8" is more optimal rim. Im also running 45 series, so I think a 50 series would be better and give the sidewall a little more to let the tread fill out.
Im having a hard time finding any performance tire 245 50r17. Looks like i may have to go 235 50r17 but I have a hard time seeing the benefit over a 225 and then im creating a bigger gap in the stock dia.
I wouldnt mind a set of BFG Gforce sport comp 2 but the closest size they offer is a 245 45r17 which is a whole 1" shorter dia than stock.
