A local guy has a set of four 17” mustang rims off a 99 gt. They come with a set of hankook ventus tires (245/45R-17) which are a little smaller, two are like brand new and two are about 3/4 tread. He is asking $500 (CND) obo. Think it is worth ofering him $400.00? This would allow me to use my stock wheels for winter tires, and these for summer. Is it possible to get a different centre cap that would get hid of the horsie?

Also, how much will this affect my mileage and speedometer readings. I could always use GPS for true mileage.

They have a dumb horse on them and look stupid. Also your speedometer would be wrong.

Get a clean set of torque stars, if you don't already have a set. Lighter and look better. Then spend that money on sticky rubber. Or hunt around for a set of 17's off a Comp. G.

I agree the horse is a bummer, but as I asked, can you get different caps, or would it be possible to polish out the horse? This wheel tire combo is 93.06% the size of stock, so when my car registers 100km, it has only really gone 93.06km. Maybe i could keep the wheels, sell the rubber, and get new rubber for next summer? Now, if the horse is a raised outline, I could sand it down, and either paint or polish the rims. If the horse is indented, I could fill it in and paint the rims.

The reason being, is that if I can talk him down to $400.00 it is an awesome deal.

Running some calculations, two very close 17" tire sizes are 245/50 and 225/55, the later being a less expensive option

Maybe I'll just try and find a set of steel wheels for winter use.

What do the torquestars or whatever they are called weigh? These "starfish" mustang wheels are the lightest 17" wheel to ever come on a mustang at around 17.5 lbs each. For what it's worth, I bought a mint set for my previous mustang for $140 WITH tires.

The polished torque stars are aluminum, and the regular are steel right? I've got the polished aluminum, and upon removing the tire, I was surprised when picking just the rim up. I could lift it with my pinky.
