So I'm at the tire shop about to get some Goodyear Eagle f1 run flats installed. What's crazy is, the Alcoa knockoffs have some weird lip on the inside that won't allow the bead to set. I'm going to have them smooth the lip out so the bead will set. $300 bucks out the door for run flats sounds good to me...

I didn't know I had to pass certain criteria to make a post... I really just wanted opinions. Thanks for the helpful response... For the record, I was going with the 275 because it was only $50 more than 245's. But if the tire is unsafe, I'm going to pass on the deal.

I find it odd my self all the 3800 guys are like 245 well from the factory we have 255's I think they forget that and if that was the case most if them had 225 from the factory so why 245's for them.....regardless take attacks on Gxp tire sizes with a grain of salt most guys don't realize our cars were designed to run 255 wide

Right and why not get more meat? Not that I'm making 600 whp or anything, but traction is a problem, so I figured the more contact to the ground the better.

You do realize the 275/35/18 is an inch shorter than factory right?

I do, but that's what they had in stock. I decided not to do it. Tomorrow they will have some 275/40/18's for me.

    Run flats?

Why? The sidewalls are like an inch thick and have like zero give, plus its a goodyear F1, and like said above they are known to seperate and wear out very quickly.

The only reason why you have 255's from the factory is for handling, The monte and impalla SS and buick all have 225's up front.

I think u misunderstood I know we have 255's and there purpose. I'm talking about some members that blast us for wanting to replace with 255's and up. When they essentially do the same when they from 225 to 245's

yes but 275's are overkill on a stockish GXP, also 90% of the time when we upgrade to 245's is because we get bigger rims.

Factory Monte/Impala SS comes with 235's all the way around from the factory. It's not about learning to launch, it's about the more contact to the ground the better.

From the GXP members who have 275's they perform very well, not just for launching but handling as well. And we already have rims capable of fitting 275's so why not.
