Thread: thinking of running 22 inch rims

Never heard of that company. and I doubt you'll be able to lower your car on 22's without extensive work to the wheel well.

Anything can be done. Anything can look stupid.
Knowing the difference is key.
It all depends on the offset of the wheel.






Oh yeah and id put money aside for a transmission rebuild before having to replace the tires.

Don't think you'll be able to lower it running 22s without doing a good amount of modifications.

Why do you guys have to crap in his thread? this happens every time one of these threads pops up. If you don't have anything to contibute(positively) why don't you just stop posting? Your OPINION has nothing to do with what he needs help with.

Another thing to add is remember our transmission are glass and tend to break stock and you having a comp g your only choice would be a rebuild or a built trans if it does happen to mess up. You won't find to many comp g trans laying around.

Nope, when I ask for help, I want help. Not a bunch of naysayers telling me why I shouldn't when it is an opinion based matter.

It's the same as if I were to ask for help on how to install roof rails, then you come along and tell me not to waste my time because roof rails are stupid.

Idk if your referring to me as well "crapping on his thread" but like I posted, this question cannot be answered without the offset given. It all depends on the offset. 16" wheels don't fit if they have an offset of -10 and a width of 8". Well they would but it would look stupid. Which brings me around full circle on my original post

And this. Increasing the overall tire diameter will change the gearing and load. This will cause increased heat inthe tranny and probably reduce fuel mileage some.

The other thing to watch for, everyone I know with big wheels and low profile tires is constantly blowing tires out and bending wheels. Most of them make it a year before they get sick of the expense and go back to stock.

Also, I have a buddy that still works on cars for a living. for a while he worked at a shop that had about 25% of its work being large tires on cars. They had several guys there doing "lifts" and "trimming". He finally refused to do the standard work because it was sketchy when it came to safety. They even sent him to a training class about it and he said it was the same sketchy work they teach you to do. Research and ask questions before letting someone start hacking on your car. Much of it cannot be reversed easily. Just be smart about it.

Yeah those will fit just a little taller than stock so you'll have to take a bfh to the rear strut spring perch and possibly roll fenders

i have 22's and stock height, i could probably lower it an inch or so but im downsizing to 20's so i can bag it and be lower. Bigger wheels are harder on the cars. mine is my daily on 22's and have had them on there since 09'. Car has held up very well. Just boils down to the look you want and maintence you dont mind doing. So far all i have changed is my tie rods and at 190K replaced the clutches in my trans from starting to slip, other than that mine is running fine.
