I'm thinking about getting these tires 245/45/18 and rims. both rims are 18x8, +40 offset. What do you think about the tires? I know the tires will not last that long, but I want good grip. I'm also on a eibach drop and plan to do CTS-V brakes, everything should be good right? Also, how about a 8.5" wide tire?

    1) wheels and tires will fit fit

    2) wheels may not clear the CTSV's and you may be forced into running spacers because of that

They will fit but I highly doubt it would clear. Drunkie's wheels he used were 18x8 +32 offset and barely cleared. The first wheels were similar setup to what he had before and they wouldn't clear at that offset, if I remember correctly.

If it were me I would look at a lower offset in the same wheels and get a little more push out of them. Its not hard to roll the fenders, if you plan to do all that work, you will want to roll them anyways, so do it right and get a flush fitment.

I've read through his thread a few times. Now I remember I need an offset less than 35. Have you guys heard anything about the tires?

Is 5x4.5 the same as 5x114.3? These are 18x8, 32 offset

The DWS's I can vouch for being a very nice tire, but I've never ran on the DWs. Being a summer performance tire it will probably corner pretty well but if you want racing tires you'll need to foot the bill for racing tires, especially since the DWS are just a little more and alot better performance wise. Either will be a pretty good tire, and consider its not going on a race car, even with suspension work its still a boat and will react like a boat.

Yea it will always be a boat. I will never take it around a track, just want some traction off the line.

I like the 3rd wheels you posted. First and second either need to be lower offset or wider wheel. Can't find them in 8.5"?

I really like the raijin, Clark on here has them, but his are 9.5". I'm pretty sure the raijin come in a 8.5", but I'm really liking the 3rd ones (motegi) especially the price. I seen the rims like the motegi rims yesterday on a toyota veloster and they looked really good.

Do you think I will have trouble fitting CTS-Vs with a rim that has a lip? Even if the offset is 30 or so?

the offset and spoke design is what will determine if they'll clear the brakes.

the lip has nothing to do with it.

I ended up going with the motegi. Now I need some matte black lug nuts. Is there a certain brand that I should go with? I'm concerned about them getting all scratched up from taking them on and off.

They will. I had some for a little while and returned them. After one time on they were dinged on the sides some.

Our cars usually run with a 35-45 offset correct?

More like a +52 for most factory wheels.

yes, usually that's a safe bet width dependent.

now how does it work? what i mean is, does 35+ mean the wheel is closer to the brakes? or is it like 45+ is closer?
