So, this is my first time upgrading to an 18" wheel and tire package. I just want to know if there is going to be any added stresses to my transmission, brakes, or axles. I have a stock 1998 GT with 94k miles.

I went with 18x8 +40mm offset American Racing Maverick and a P245/45R18 Toyo Extenza HP.

I'm really thinking of upgrading the brakes, anyway. Mainly for the added stopping power, but its going to have to look good behind the wheel with the larger spaces between the spokes. Am I going to need to upgrade the brakes? Each wheel/tire combo is going to weigh about 50lbs. The tires are 27lbs each, and from what I found online, the wheels are 23-25lbs. My stock size Michelin Symmetry tires weigh 25lbs each, but I'm not sure about my wheels (I have silver 5 spoke wheels and they are not the torque stars).

Are there going to be any mandatory upgrades I'm going to have to make after or before I put these on?

I already have everything, but I haven't mounted the tires yet because the weather hasn't cleared yet, and I'm trying not to drive in any kind of snow or salt with these. I'll post pics as soon as I get them mounted and installed.

    No those will fit wonderfully.

I would suggest doing an fbody brake upgrade or the gxp brake upgrade.

I was looking into the GXP upgrade. I like the direct bolt in aspect. I'm also really considering the 12" rear brake upgrade.

Upgrading your brakes is great. But as far as anything you should do with the new wheels, nothing really. You'll just notice a little harsher ride, not much, and better handling
