Tire recommendations for a poor white boy

So I bought some Goodyear Eagle GT's about 2 years/35,000 miles ago and already I need new tires. I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't last that long but oh well. Anyway, 2 years ago I could afford a new set of Goodyears, this year I'm gainfully unemployed. So if someone has some recommendations on a decent set of tires, let me know. Looking for less than $100 a tire. The less money I have to spend the better. They'll be for stock rims so 225/60/16. And living in the south, they don't need to be all seasons or good in the snow. Let me know what you guys like.

i usualy get mastercraft mc-440 tires. 16 inch. best tires ive used so far. beast in the snow, but you dont have to worry about that. and there amazing as far as traction goes. i can make reallllly sharp turns and still hold grip. and there actually fairly cheap where i get them.

Find a good used set from craigslist, scrapyard, or a tire shop.

You can find quality tires in good shape if you are not in a huge rush
I got lucky, found a great set of BF Goodrich Control Plus for cheap with the aluminum rims. Scrapped the rims and made $54 back.

i'm liking these assurance fuel max's....

H speed rated though.

handling isn't terrible, traction is good.

and they're CHEAP.

BFG is your best compromise. Traction T/A if you can find it.

I'd take a look at tirerack.com and see if you like something. What type of tire were you looking for?

I've had some luck with fuzion hri's - $75

and i'll be putting some some yokohama avid envigors on this month - $99

Kumho's have a 100k treadlife warranty (t speed rating) $92

Bandits Grand Prix: I'm considering the Mastercraft MC-440 tires for my '98 Continental. I'm in Minnesota, so snow traction is a big concern. Can you talk a little more about how they work in the snow?

only problem i really have is hooking on wet ground if i take off hard. but as he said it's pretty good all around. hoping to get a chance to drive in some snow before winter is over but idk if thats gonna happen.

I have Kumho Solus KR21's all around on my 00gt. Seem to do very well in all but deep snow or ice, which is what actual snow tires are for. Never missed a beat in the rain and they seem to last forever. $95 ea. on tirerack. I have about 50K or so on mine and they don't even look worn in yet.

And just because a tire is "cheap" in price doesn't necessarily mean its cheap in quality. I have Toyo tires on my 03 Vic ($$$), and the Kumho's I have on my GT compare pretty well. The only difference would be cornering, and I have a feeling that's just do to the shorter sidewall and rating of the Toyo's.

*MOST* Goodyear tires are junk, yet why do they cost me $150/tire?? Because of the name. The quality is lacking in most of them but people recognize the name and drop the $ for them. Just like what most people do for Bose audio stuff. Pay for the name, even know there are much better things out there with a lower price but the marketing people have had a field day with the sheeple.

i drive the crap out of my cars. ive always run off brand stuff like fuzion or falken. i would never spend real money on goodyear, michelin, etc. it's a waste to me when i can get a similar tire for much less money.

I wouldn't call my goodyears a good tire.
