Picked up some 17" MSR's last month cause I was tired of the 18" rubber band tire look. Also didn't really like my ride height after lowering. Got the rims used so they came with DINKY little 225/45/17 tires. Finally got my tires in today (255/50/17) and man are they MEATY!

    Hardly any wheel gap

Here's what it came down to. Everyone and their mother had those rims in my area. Mainly cause I bought local and they're quite popular out here. Being they're Volk rims. Tires were **** and rims were bent just due to the lightweight material they were made of not really holding up against impacts. No I didn't drive like an ass, but every now and again you're going to catch a pothole or two and with that little rubber, there's not much cusion

There is no way you had a 45 aspect ratio tire... is there?.. Those look like 225-40-18's! That's what I always found when I looked locally for 18's. I think if you had 245-45-18's or even 225-50-18's you'd be more pleased with the look.

My brother has 225-50-18's on his car and they are far from rubber bands:

Eh but hey I understand where you're coming from with the whole bent light weight rim deal.. sucks dude.

    245/40/18 is what they were

Now just a quick search of "ssc 245/45/18"

To me, it's a tiny sidewall.

    For comparison purposes, mine now

Love the new wheels, My next set of tires will have a little more sidewall to them. I'm running 235/45s on my 17s that look a little similar to your old wheels.

255 45 is the best side wall for 17's.....those look slightly too big IMO.....they dont rub when you turn? looks ultra close to the front bumper/fender edge.
