I've heard horror stories of cast aluminum wheels becoming brittle and breaking apart from powdercoating. The GTX wheels I picked up were powdercoated and were not done properly (Chrome shouldn't be sand blasted in most cases the surface is stronger than the cast aluminum underneath), I would powder coat them again but I have no idea how much heat they were already treated to.

Just thought I'd share. I'm always over cautious when it comes to things like that. A reputable shop should know what to do.
You have to do a different process with aluminum for powdercoating. Doing it the same as steel treatment does weaken the aluminum. What ends up happening is that the metal becomes brittle and can break under high stress situations. I know it messes up the metal's strength properties given to it through the manufacturing processes.
