i need new tires...i have the stock 16" torque stars and im gonna keep them so i wanna buy stock size tires. i want to know wut is the best long lasting tires you have had? gimme some ideas bc i need tires that will last a long time. i drive 300 to 500 miles between ohio and PA every week so i want a good tire that wont break the bank. thanks for your input!

i was thinkin either the khumo Solus KR-21 or the yokohama AVID H4/V4....opinions??

Well I’m not sure there is a magic bullet for tires; you just have to fit the tire to your driving. My personal favorite site for tire info is TireRack. IMHO an hour on that site would help your decision making. On my last GP I put on some Goodyear Assurance tires, they were awesome tires for all around use. They really cut down on the hydro plane-ing, the stock tires were horrible in the rain. So I would image the newer Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds are just as good. The Michelin Hydroedge and Harmony are highly rated, and undoubtedly a good tire. Now that I’m thinking about it even after changing my tires, my 02 GP did plane a little. Maybe it’s my imagination but my 08 GP doesn’t plane nearly as much even with the stock tires. Maybe more down force or different alignment specs? Who knows?
Anyway, I would definitely get a tire that specifically fights hydro plane-ing.

I got Kuhmo Solus on my GP, the previous owners put them on and I don't like them... their ugly to look at, plus they have horrible traction.

I have had ultra high performance 225/60/16 tires on my GP in the following brands since new:
1. BGF XGT Z4's-Great tire and reasonably priced for a ZR rated tire-No longer available.
2. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's-Very expensive and a decent all season Ultra High Performance tire. Personally not worth the money though, Cheaper alternatives in a Z rated tire that are just and good and will last just as long
3. Goodyear Ultra Grip Winter Tire-V rated-Used by most state police in winter driving-Excellent compromise between winter driving and very good dry handling.
4. BFG g force sport-225/55/16 Z rated-Ultra high performance-Summer only tire-Great tire for 3 seasons in the northeast-Reasonably priced-$93 from Tire rack.
Look for a V/Z rated tire if you are looking to dramatically improve the handling, steering, and traction over the mediocre OEM type S/T/H rated tires.

Speed rating doesnt tell you anything...
The g force sports last 30K miles, have good traction, apparently noisy for the first little while but quiet down (still more noise than your typical all season) and mediocre wet traction but amazing dry. Also great cornering since the sidewalls are as stiff as can be.
Can't comment on the other tires.

I have to disagree that "speed ratings do not tell you anything". A tires speed rating is the result of the direct correlation between a tires construction and the softness of the rubber on the tire. Generally speaking a high speed rating (Z/V with Z being rated for speeds over 149 MPH (sub ratings of W=168MPH and Y=186 MPH) and V=149MPH) indicates the ability of the tire to stay together under increasing speed and a much stiffer sidewall than a lesser rated tire such as an S (112MPH) and T (118 MPH). Another words ultra high performance tires have a much stiffer and stronger tire carcass which results in better steering feedback and handling. In addition, a high speed rated tire uses much softer rubber for superior dry traction and wet handling resulting in an increased wear rate over an A/S loww speed rated tire. A dedicated ultra high performance tire will spank a lower speed rated tire all season tire all day, no contest. I have had multiple Z and V rated tires on my GP and there is no comparison to some of the A/S tires mentioned above. An all season tire is a compromise between dry, wet, and snow traction and generally will not do anyone of these traits better than a dedicated ultra high performance tire. Common sense, if you think about it and have actually experienced some of the terrific ultra high performance All season and summer only tires out there for an extended period of driving mileage.

so im considering the Yokohama AVID H4/V4 tires because they have a V speed rating and the are under 100 dollars a peice whch is where im trying to keep the price....

go with the bfgoodridge traction t/a t. i just put some on the fiance's malibu and it gets around like a champ in the snow. i was really surprise on how well the did.
