i bought a set of 16" eagle alloys for like $150. i was thinking about repainting them myself to a silver or chrome using rattle cans(i painted a set of mustang rims gloss black and it came out good w/o flakings). my question is, is one way to completely remove the chrome on the rims by sandblasting them? heres what they look like:

its mainly inside/behind the spokes that are flaking and oxidizing alot more apparently[X(].

heres how my mustang rims came out fwiw:

Have those poor wheels ever seen soap and water besides rain, or ever been waxed? Try this Im sure they could look like a million bucks but it will take some work. This is by far the best post Ive ever seen for polished wheels. Im assuming that by the look of the corrosion that those are polished EA 007 not chrome. Either way try this off LS1tech.com

I think this is a far better option that painting them unless powdercoated.

02GrandPrixIraqVet, the rims are also flaking and chipping. is it possible to sandblast them to completely remove polish?

Yup. Sandblast them and I would suggest powder coating them instead of spray bombing them.

    But you already knew that.

stripped and polished would look way better IMHO, Id just sand the inside with some wet/dry and then strip and polish the outside. I think that would be the most cost effective and get the best results.

Yeah, I'm with Vet on this one. I'd say just clean em up, then polish/clear em and then you don't have to worry about them.
