Sounds like you should just let it catch on fire and file an insurance claim.

don't even have 180K.. pffftt maybe you aren't up to speed. Most people still don't think a car is good past 100K
I know 100k ain't **** I've pushed had a few cars around 350k and my old civic wagovan i had 401k when i sold it my goal with the gp is to hit 300k
Lots of people will pay extra to shoot flames out of the tailpipes.
Been a stupid year and bad luck on replacement parts for this thing. Not much of a mechanic but I am learning my way around this vehicle. Was told that the wheel hub on the front passenger side was bad earlier this year so I went online, figured out how to change it, grabbed the part from the nearest advanced auto and replaced the part. Later on I start hearing a funny noise coming from the wheel-well. Come on here looking for advice and someone mentions that its a good idea to do both hubs at the same time. So I ask what a good brand of hub is, order it off amazon and change out the drivers side hub. Still hear the damn noise. On a hunch I put the old drivers side hub onto the passenger side and presto, the noise is gone, frikin hub from advanced auto was crap. So order up another hub off amazon and re-switch out the passenger side one. Dont remember the brand of the original hub I got from advanced auto was and didnt have the receipt so I lost out on returning that.
In the middle of these issues, my wife cracks the passenger side CV axle. Again, do an internet search, figure out how to change them, grabbed both drivers and passengers sides from advanced auto and change them out. about 2 months later, when I went to change the passenger hub for the final time, I found grease all over the inside of my rim and covering various areas of the wheel well. The boots at both ends of the CV axle pulled back and the grease flew everywhere. I ended up taking the part back this time to get a replacement. Thanksgiving, a month later, I am backing into my folk's driveway and the steering felt and sounded funny. Turns out I just needed more power steering fluid, and what a weird ass place to put the reservoir for that. Anyway I checked the driver front tire to see if I ran something over or it needed air and I see a splatter of grease on the outer part of the rim. Pulled the axle out the next day, the boots still held up but there was a small tear. Ended up taking that back for an exchange too. Brand name ToughOne, should be renamed "WeakAs****One".
So at least I now know my way around the wheel well of this thing pretty well.
Currently a headlight is giving me crap. Grabbed a replacement bulb only to find that the previous owner changed these out with fancy Hid somethingornother bulbs that no one carries. Look around online and order a new one of those, replace it and nothing, wont friggin turn on. Currently driving around with one bright white light and one yellow-ish not as bright light.
Just had to get the frikkin orange one. My Bonneville was never this temperamental :/
I am learning a lot thanks to this community though, so cheers to that!
For the headlights the ballast probably took a dump, i would yank the HIDs out and use some Phillips Xtreme Vision bulbs, they are brighter than your normal halogen but only have a lifespan of something like 150-200 hours.
I actually liked it when my dash lights died on my Bonnie. Let the heads up do the work. I'll look into the new lights, thanks Russosaur.
Wife just texted me.. Gas cap not locking now.
Damn thing just keeps falling apart and my wallet is the Duct tape that keeps it together.
my whole 1999 Grand prix has almost all new parts from the radiator to the 4th transmission. I buy all my parts from Rock Auto online. They have quality parts at 1/2 the price of Advance Auto or the other chain stores. The only thing not from them are the transmissions. General motors sucks but 168000 mile and 15 years later I still have my GT. New $3000 paint job to boot. If I had it to do over again would I buy this car. No way with all the problems it had. I think GM laces the steering wheels with cocaine to keep you addicted to the car lol.
Thanks for the heads up. Will give Rock Auto a look up.
Bought the car modded about 3 years ago, though I didn't know to the extent at the time. I just knew the previous owner messed with the exhaust system. All I knew was that I wanted a stupid orange gp ever since I saw it back in 04', ended up getting a white 00' Bonneville ssei instead.
So, not quite the cars fault, but weekend before x-mas I had the back passenger rim crack in two places. Had those rims for 7 years on the Bonneville, but we had just gotten new tires when we had to find a new car so I just swapped everything onto the gp. Been on miss matching rims for about a year and a half since my wife cracked the first pair on a pot hole. So for x-mas this year we got a full matching set! Merry x-mas you piece of crap!
Now they are about as dirty as the rest of the car.
Parking skills need to be improved lol.
