Salutations. I am new here. I am just purchasing my first grand prix. 2001 GTP. Is there anything I should know? I am aware of the confirmation of the supercharger working properly, Is there any truth to a head gasket recall for my car? Bearing in mind I am from the Oshawa area in Ontario, Canada.

    Thanks.

    Valve cover gasket recall.

Just take the heat shield off the front manifold and the car won't catch on fire.

Then replace your LIM gaskets and the motor should last forever.

Head gaskets going out on a stock 3800 are like unicorns, I've never seen one.

Hello -I am somewhat new to this forum but an old time Pontiac owner.
I am a big fan of the "Members Rides" sub forum.

Have a few questions, my car has now crossed the 115k mile threshold, and i'd like to start working on fixing it myself.
For starters ill refrain from going under the hood but I've set myself 3 mini projects.
    1) I will change the headlights
    2) The drivers side power window
    3) The brake pads and add a disc rotor cover and change brake rotors if required.
Once I understand more I will delve more and more into the these DIY type tasks.

In your opinion whats the best way to start these tasks?
For starters I have ordered a Haynes Pontiac manual, have watched many many Youtube videos.
How did you guys start? can you give me some tips and advice?

I am a mechanical engineer but havent touched that subject in over 25 years.

Ive seen it placed between the Brake rotors and the wheel.
It acts as a protective layer, reducing corrosion .
