-6°F here tonight, -11°F wind chill. I can't stand out there for more than 10 seconds without a heavy coat on and gloves without getting numb.

At work I just needed to fill a power steering reservoir in the parking lot, I was like ehh its only for 45 seconds max. I had a work coat and work gloves (so not that warm) and I barely made it back in the shop lol. My fingers mostly. It was the wind that got me, blowing at 15 mph or so the whole time. This morning wasnt bad, just got like 5 degrees colder every hour once 3 pm came around

One more night here in MN, then things will get better. Better cold now, than in December when the days are so short.

Yeah it's like at work, we get people bringing their cars in on tow trucks because they wouldn't start on a -12°F morning like something is wrong. One bottle of Heet later and they work just fine every morning after, no need to tow it in a shop for that. Or if it was a no crank no start, we inquire about the battery age and test it, and replace if needed. Not needed at a shop either.

ya thats all the damn news is talking about haha... we have like 20 salt trucks but thats only bc a couple years ago we had a "bad" snow storm about 6-8", which is alot for down here lol and the state bought some more bc they had like 2 at the time. I was held up in my house for a solid week i kid you not.. bc the roads were just iced completely over. lol

the news reporter just said it took her team and her over 90min to go 2 miles hahaha damn im glad i stayed in today lol

Well it finally got above freezing for a while. It was snowing all morning, I went to go out and use the snowblower and it wasn't snowing anymore. It was raining, which made everything slush. So I did the snow in the rain. It was pretty hard on the snowblower but it still did well and didn't clog once. I sprayed the auger housing and chute with silicone spray to help it glide better.

Now that it's going back to freezing temps it's snowing again. Bad part is that all the water and slush will turn to ice since it's getting to 22°F tonight. Glad I'm not going anywhere.

Roads are pretty crap here. I just went out and did my neighbors and my snow on the driveway, sidewalk, and the street on our side. It was a steady 5 inches or so the whole time, the snowblower did really well again. Also moved my car to do the driveway and tried parking it in the street, there was enough snow near the curb to go up to the bumper, and more as I got closer to the curb, so I was able to only get so far before it wouldn't go any more lol. I kept inching trying not to get the tires to spin, then all of a sudden the car dropped like 3 inches as the tires spun lol (since it was kicking all the snow out from under the tires) Still didn't get stuck even in that really deep stuff. That says a lot when other cars get stuck in snow half that height. Oh and it's still coming down pretty good.

Ah yes the roads were crap today! I was on 94 then at 9:00 i get an email from my professor saying class is cancelled as I'm in the middle of Detroit so i turn around, then 696 on the way to work was just as bad, only one lane was decent and lots of sliding but hopefully cleaned up some now. The tractor i have with the plow did a good job cleaning up the driveway and sidewalks!
