Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...
For starters the guy you talked to, he's an idiot. The WS6 RPO designation is for the upgraded suspension. But I hate to break his heart, but the brakes, rear end (possibly different ratios, but same rear end otherwise), and trans were all still the same. The WS6 specifically states for a performance suspension upgrade, springs/shocks, that's it.
The only difference in a base and a formula is the motor, badges, and again, possibly a different gear ratio. Everything else is the same.
So yea... throw a turbo on the motor, spend a couple grand but have a paid for car with boost and pull on the unsuspecting V8 cars. 90% of most F-Body owners keep it stock or do mild bolt-ons and think its a race car, but few actually put the money into it to crank out huge numbers so you'd shock most with a boosted 3800 bird.
Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...
I've always wanted to buy a stick 3800 Bird and stick an M90 on it. That would be awesome if it was easier.

This car is the reason for my insanity. I don't need that much power, though because I do like to drive it around and go around turns every once in a while lol
Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...
I'm always on wedndesday mornings cuz of my boring class too.

Main difference with a T/A, WS6, Formula, or even a Firehawk is the gain of posi. Smoking up both rears is a nice sight and a good place to start (in my book) if I plan on pushing more power from the front in the future...
Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...

Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...
The rational thought of moving to a V8 is somewhat true. You have a better starting point engine wise, but for whatever reason is unrealistic for most guys on this form. Could be insurance, gas, parents, money or maybe a combination of those things. Regardless, you already made the decision you did and frankly WGAF? Spend your money how you want and make the car your own.
The turbo route will be a solid one and would make some wicked power. I'm looking forward to your build thread.

I think you hit every point on why I own a V6, insurance would be ridiculous, gas would always be non-existent, parents said no V8 for first car, and an 8 is still out of my price range five years later
Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...
You misconstrue the fuel efficiency of a solid V8 Car. With minor bolt ons my friends 02 SS 6spd rakes in 28 on the highway and 22 in town and he plays with it when the feeling arises. Now if you light to light every stop light then no you won't get good mileage but his Maro actually pulls better mileage than my GTP does most days and we drive about the same, he just has alot more power.
Now for everything else, ya a V6 is much cheaper lol.
Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...
but I like to light to light lol
Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...
LS1's really dont have that bad gas mileage.
As long as your not beating on it.

Re: Why did I come to GPF? This is why...
exactly, they don't make that one for my car anymore
