On one end of town its $3.89 on the other end its $3.82. Diesel at the same station thats 3.89 it costs $4.96, at the station that is $3.82 it costs $4.67. I looked at 3 different stations that have E85 one was 3.40 another was $3.38 (both at a Meijer's) the other one which is at a BP station and that was the first place to offer it it was $2.82. We just couldnt believe how much the gas prices were different and from our house the more expensive gas is about 10 mins from us going south going north 10 mins is cheaper (All the gas prices are for 87)
I had to put a few bucks in yesterday after dropping off my carpooler. It was $3.97 a gallon. I told him I'd put enough in to get me home. He questioned if it really was that cheaper. I filled up for $3.83. Not only that, but the gas stations around my house do the 10 cent/20 cent mark up on Plus/Supreme. I have seen a LOT of stations that now mark up 20/30 cents. I try to even avoid them for the 87 octane then since they figure they fleece the higher gases. I don't want to say for sure, but I remember reading that Plus is only 3-4 cents per gallon more to manufacture, and then Supreme is 7-8. So they are already making a good mark up on the gas. It's just 87 that they make pennies on.
Well Scotty is gonna get a good poke at me for this one. I was driving one morning to work and I listening to one of our local talk radio station, and one of the commentators was speaking to an analyst from the CATO Institute and what he said kind of shocked even me. The analyst said everyone is hating the Big Oil Companies for their seemingly big chokehold on gas prices. He read off some numbers that made my jaw drop, well ALMOST drop, he states that the Big Oil companies make a .09 cent profit off each gallon of gas used. While on the other hand our Federal Government makes .49 cents off the same gallon of gas.
I was like wow! Either we just use an insane amount of gas in this country, which I can truly believe given all the idiots who use those big useless SUV's as their daily drivers for no good reason or that our Government is just making way more money hand over fist off us. Another point he brought up that put the Big Oil companies in a different light was the fact that they are being blocked by our own Government from Drilling anywhere we have large oil deposits that could be tapped for consumption.
The bottomline is, for me at least, the Big Oil companies are still monsters, but that our own Government makes the Big Oil companies look like saints in regards to profits from gas used in the US.
Ok Scotty you can beat me now
But it also rings in another point, that the gas we use in regular passanger cars is no where as equaled as what is wasted in those big gas gussling SUV's. Just think of the reserve we would have if everyone would stop using SUV's and drove a more practical mode of transportation. Of course obviously some can not use a GP or some other type of midsize car to haul around their equipment, but for the big rich a@@ people out who just drive SUV's cause they can, they need to stop and think about what they are doing to our economy!
Ok Rant off
I paid $63 to fill up my car yesterday, and the prices were down a little.
James don't get me started on the SUV thing. Back when the SUV craze started, I was wondering what people were thinking. So what the gas was cheap back then, a somewhat non renewable source was being wasted. I have to hand it to the auto industry though. They put their, declining in sales, station wagons and minivans higher in the air, people bought them
i feel your pain indeedss lol its a sad day in our world today. GOD DAM ****** AND OUR GOVERNMENT!

You do know that oil companies also get some of the best tax breaks in the country. So that 9 cents profit they make doesn't include the tax breaks. How companies that have been making record profits can compain they should't lose their tax breaks is insane.
Percentage of our oil from the Middle East: less than 20%
Percentage of our oil from Canada and Mexico and Venezuela: 44%
Middle East oil less important than African oil for US

Not according to the latest release from the EIA (we're due another in a few days).
EIA - Short-Term Energy Outlook
Gas prices are actually supposed to go down some next year due to less demand (people sick of paying for it).
if it does hit 6 bucks a gallon im screwed haha
Okay we went to Branson this weekend and we were shocked when we saw this:
87 = $3.89
89 = $4.09
91 = $4.69
I hope the 60 cent jump between 89 and 91 is not a new trend!!!! At one time it was 10 cent increment rule but now it varies from station to station.
In 2004 we moved back to AR from NJ and it cost $1.79 per gallon which equals about $30 per fill up........... tonight I went to Sam's and paid $4.04 and paid $59.00 for 14.57 gallons.
Interesting - 2004 a years average would have been about $1,560.00
2008 at todays price $3,068.00
I may have too look at alternative horsepower - its a paint named Zinger!!
I paid $4.08 for 93 Thursday night. That was the cheapest I've seen it anywhere for some time now. Three miles and further away from that station, it was anywhere from $4.19 to $4.29. And still is. The question is becoming how far do I want to drive to save 21 cents a gallon? I really don't think I mind. Not one bit.
