I know. I'm in a serious relationship myself. Been with her for four years, living together now. That's why I'm posting, I can imagine the feeling.

What you gotta do now is just chase focus on your schooling during the day, get out and chase some foreign tail all night.

    Sorry to hear that Dan.
I've been with my boyfriend for 6 years now. I don't know what I would do if we broke up.
Probably turn into a hermit crab and crawl in a hole to never come out.

But things will turn around, keep your head up.
Keep in contact with her, like you said if it's meant to be you guys will find your way back to each other when the time is right.

Kind of a serious question, since your a girl i can ask this and get a real answer.

You said keep in touch with her still, which i want too but since we just broke up i feel as if i can not text her like everything is normal tomorrow.

When am i aloud to talk to her again, how much time should i let pass first?

Gotta keep myself busy and just start browsing the college campus for new women.

Sorry to hear that man. I am sure things will work out in your favor. I understand that it may take some time. 5 years is a lot of memories. Best of luck man.

Well let me rephrase myself. I know it was a break up, but was it on good terms?
Give it some time before really talking I guess, but idk. If I was her, I'm not real sure how I'd feel so I may not be the best one to listen to. If my bf and I broke up after this long, I would probably really be upset for awhile, cuz 5 years is a LONG time to spend with someone.
I would by no means cut ties with her, cuz obviously you guys had something special.
As with any break up, I think some space is required after it happens. Just all depends on how strongly you two still feel towards each other as time passes.

College is stressful. been there done that. Especially with work constantly and her with sports. So the not talking or not seeing each other was only going to add more stress to both of you. So I can see this being for the best for both of you and your friendship.

    How old are you guys?

    p.s, she is very pretty

As cliché as it sound, everything happens for a reason. That is just the natural order of things.

We all follow paths throughout our lives and it is difficult to stray. However, it is something like this that might make you realize that it was meant to happen to bring you to something better and more fulfilling.

I know it sounds pessimistic, but in reality it's more optimistic than anything. If it was meant to be, it was meant to be.

Give it some time, keep a thick skin, and the wounds will heal.

Yes it was on good terms, we both knew it was going to happen sooner or later, neither of us just had the guts to do it. So me, being the man, stepped up and did the right thing in favor of her. Did i want to do? hell no. But it had to be done cause i respect her and her decisions. Im not trying to cut ties with her but not trying to overwhelm her with texting her and talking to her everyday, i mean if she wanted that, we would not have broken up. so obviously she wants some space. i think after two weeks is a good amount of time to bring up a conversation if it hasnt already sprung. And i am 19 and she is 18. Yes we are young, but were still together for 5 years and now we are in college and our thoughts have matured so we knew what we were doing. Went all through high school together and have grown and matured together. Ill do anything to get her back into my life and be happy with her.

well like they say there is no such thing as a good breakup otherwise people wouldnt be breaking up tends to lean one way or the other regardless and is never really fair I was with an ex for 5 years been broke up for about two still think of her pretty often but whatchu gonna do . Get out and have a cpl drinks try to ease the mind when it wanders and you learn to forget the emotions and keep the memories

    NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO
    DO NOT
    DO NOT
    Listen to country music :P

I'm sure you will be aight though and the best idea is to leave it alone until she misses you any contact in the meantime keep it brief and try to stay strong
maybe she just needs some space don't deny still caring just dont go out of your way to tell her imo.
I'm sorry officer I didnt know I couldn't do that

I know the feeling of losing someone you've been with for a long time. It sucks...stupid things will remind you of her for a long time, random people will look like her, or when your phone buzzes you'll hope it's her. It's going to be tough, but it does get easier with time. My current "gf" says "the easiest way to get over someone is to get under someone else"...maybe it'll work for you, but my "gf" was a slut so I guess that statement kinda works and kinda doesn't.

My best advice is to keep your head up, keep your mind busy, and move onward and upward. You know we got your back. Just watch out for Silvaman...I think he REALLY wants to have your back. LOL
