I have never had any issues with power washing a dirty engine bay, just make sure all of the caps are on tight and don't spray directly into the air intake box.

It gets washed when it gets washed. Some people are busy and work a lot of hours and don't have the time to detail their car.

^ this. I have an open cone, I just get a Walmart plastic bag (make sure it has no holes) and tie it around the filter and hose the whole thing down. then I putter to the vacuum stations and dry the car, and clean the insides and I'm good to rock and roll.

It rains like every other day so washing is a waste of time and money. When it doesn't rain I try to wash it once a week.
I do detail the interior weekly I like it when people tell me they've never seen a car interior consistently clean as mine.

it doesn't take much to keep it clean if your car was clean and waxed before the rain then it will be clean after the rain

as for the engine bay look at this

thats what it looks like after not being washed for 6 months...and 5,000miles It's not super clean but its not discusting like ones that have never been washed

^^^^And that is one amazing lookin bay, I like the colors you put in it.

Sorry for the rain, if we even got any around here. I get mine washed at least once a month, it doesnt get to bad but there is a lot of dust. I did do a little cleaning under the hood but I gotta wait till it gets warm to really make it look good.

That reminds me of my mom's caliber. It's an 09 and when she bought it she promised she would never smoke in it. That lasted about 2 months. The mix of cigarette smoke and new car smell is STILL there and it smells horrible. Then there's my dad's dakota which is pretty much a POS. She drives that sometimes and since the front windows don't roll down and she never bothers with the back ones, the smell just accumulates. It's gross. My car has never (at least since I got it IDK about before then lol) and will never be smoked in

I used to work at a detail shop when I was younger and id be amazed at the **** that would come in, then got a job at belle tire, and OMG!! Shiit was naaasty! I get freaked out when I have an empty water bottle in my car. I try and keep pretty good care of mine the best I can. I mean its got its rock chips on the hood and such, which was all there when I bought it. But as far as the engine bay, I keep it pretty clean. Every thing isn't all polished and spit shined, but its nice and clean. But I hear ya......some ppls cars are disgusting! And as far as im concerned, the way someones car looks is a close reflection of how there house looks!

Out of everyone I know around here, Im the only one who actually cleans their car on any sort of basis.

The GTP's engine bay was clean enough to eat off of. The Caprice wagons is nearly as clean, and the Eclipses (barring the tiny oil leak) is spotless.

As for the outside of the car....cant keep a black car cleans, and why bother cleaning a beat up wagon? XD

I try to do a full detail on the Cobra's and my wifes suv twice a year. Around this time of year I don't drive the rustangs very much, so I do a wash maybe once or twice during the winter. Through the other parts of year I wash my stuff every two weeks or so. And a wash to me should always include some purple power in the bay, and cleaning the interior/conditioning the leather.

I'm anal about it though, last year I dropped the exhaust in the 04 just to sand and polish it, although nobody will really ever see it. I also pulled out the fender well liners so I could spray a couple light coats of rhino liner on them...

You clearly don't live in an area with pollen or dust.

If you do it right, wash, clay, rewash, polish, wax, sealant, and use quality stuff, you should only have to do it two/three times a year. The rest of the time just wash and use spray detailer. At least that's what I do for the outside.

I used to be a clean freak before I became a bus driver for my brothers friends to and from school but even still I clean it out like once a month. As far as the winter goes I wash it when its warmer and in the summer I wash once a week and detail when I have time (every other wash). I have never officially cleaned my engine bay except for some simple green and paper towels. Maybe this spring or when it is warm I will try and take the car into a wash and pressure wash the engine (so the only thing I have to cover is the filter?). Anyone reccommend a cleaner to spray in the engine as well? As far as the Camaro goes I can't pressure wash it because of the distributor but once it gets repainted I will pay to have it detailed.

I also need to get some new stripping for the trunk and get a shop vac in there to get out all the water and the recently exploded washer fluid bottle.

I will have to say that my wife's old Mazda had black interior and it was a pain to keep clean. When we got rid of it a few weeks ago it was so clean the dealer didn't do anything to it. You know haow dealers work, but they said they would have offered less money if it was dirty.
