So it started yesterday at work.
Got an email from someone asking about a hammer mill brand that we do not sell. So I emailed him back and told him no, but we have something comparable for $3,850.
He then wants a quote for 2 of them...
Then wants me to call him, so I do.
Foreign accent and the same guy is trying to act like he's a different one when I asked for "Jeff Larry" (really? who has that kinda name?)
He then is being just really retarded and wont answer any questions that I asked and keeps saying I'll email you, I'll email you. He won't give me his location because they will come pick it up and then the units will end up in Africa. If you won't answer my questions, why did you want me to call? So I hang up and send him a quote anyways and that was the end of that yesterday.
Yesterday we all thought it was a scam.

Then today he emails back asking what type of credit card we accept.
So I give him all the details 50% upfront and the rest before shipment. He then calls while I'm at lunch and talks to my boss briefly.
Then today after he asked some more questions, we thought oh we'll try it and see what happens.
So after I get back from lunch and errands, I call him back as I'm instructed too...phone is disconnected...hmmm, fishy? I think yes.
I get a call from a new international number....Its Jeff Larry asking me why I haven't replied to his email or called...well dumb ass, your phone is disconnected and I have no email from you. He then says its supposed to contain a link to a shipping company and I am to get a quote from them..
(We have been scammed like this before with other shipping companies but its really a fraud). So I run back to the lab and tell my boss and we both agree its a scam.
I come back and he calls again, accusing me that I am not checking my email (as I am constantly clicking the send/receive button).
I then tell him we only use our shipping company Old Dominion, or physical pick up from said customer.
Phone gets silent....and he hangs up.

Stupid idiot. I thought it smelled fishy all along and I guess I was right.
So, stay away from people named Jeff Larry, email of jeff.larry624@yahoo.com, claiming he is from Cleveland, Ohio and then calls from the country Ghana (Phone: 233245496014).

At first, we didn't think it was scam because normally they aren't as persistent as he was. Then today, the shipping thing just gave it away.
I'm looking for ways to report it but since he didn't try with a credit card, I don't know that we can.

He didn't call from the Ghana number until an hour ago. He really had an accent but Idk what he was. Just a stupid idiot. I wanna report it to help the poor people he is screwing by using their credit cards. I know I'd want someone to do the same if it was mine. But we don't really have a case.

We just had someone call stating my boss ordered tape and wanted to double check the address. Well we only use tape with nylon in it(heavy stuff). He said it was just regular 2" wide tape. I told him to no send us anythng call back talk to my boss we only order from Uline anyway. Long story short new guy answered the next call they shipped us 32 rolls of tape and sent us a $1400 bill for it. Our lawer just laughed at it because in Illinois if theres some law where since they just snt it it was considered a "gift".

There is a place that is doing like chevyy described but selling light bulbs. At my old job they called our maintaince guy and got his name and sent a few bulbs and put his name down for the PO number. My boss called and they said we had the bulbs and we had to pay but we could return them but they would charge us like a 70% restocking fee.

Had a guy call us and talked to my boss. He was calling from GA to Oklahoma for an order of 2,000+ spark plugs. Wanted us to ship them to him, take payment over the phone with a credit card that was in a different name, bunch of BS. Boss told him to contact his local dealership if he really needed that much. I just laughed.

This happened to my buddy at his office.
He got a phone call saying it was the help desk or IT and they wanted to know what kind of printer the office had because there was some problem. So he tells them.
Then a week later all these shipments of marked up printer ink showed up and got billed to the company.

They are everywhere. It's awful. Luckly he didn't get anywhere with us. I felt like replying to his email and telling him how much of a low life he is and that he's a worthless pos. But my boss wouldn't let me send it.

LOL My boss and I just say "can you hold for one second", or "just a minute" and we put the phone down and go on about our business.

    They hang up eventually.

Boss deals locally for everything, big on supporting small local businesses, so we don't do ordering over the phone to anyone that isn't a regular distributor.
