So it started yesterday at work.
Got an email from someone asking about a hammer mill brand that we do not sell. So I emailed him back and told him no, but we have something comparable for $3,850.
He then wants a quote for 2 of them...
Then wants me to call him, so I do.
Foreign accent and the same guy is trying to act like he's a different one when I asked for "Jeff Larry" (really? who has that kinda name?)
He then is being just really retarded and wont answer any questions that I asked and keeps saying I'll email you, I'll email you. He won't give me his location because they will come pick it up and then the units will end up in Africa. If you won't answer my questions, why did you want me to call? So I hang up and send him a quote anyways and that was the end of that yesterday.
Yesterday we all thought it was a scam.
Then today he emails back asking what type of credit card we accept.
So I give him all the details 50% upfront and the rest before shipment. He then calls while I'm at lunch and talks to my boss briefly.
Then today after he asked some more questions, we thought oh we'll try it and see what happens.
So after I get back from lunch and errands, I call him back as I'm instructed too...phone is disconnected...hmmm, fishy?I think yes.
I get a call from a new international number....Its Jeff Larry asking me why I haven't replied to his email or called...well dumb ass, your phone is disconnected and I have no email from you. He then says its supposed to contain a link to a shipping company and I am to get a quote from them..
(We have been scammed like this before with other shipping companies but its really a fraud). So I run back to the lab and tell my boss and we both agree its a scam.
I come back and he calls again, accusing me that I am not checking my email (as I am constantly clicking the send/receive button).
I then tell him we only use our shipping company Old Dominion, or physical pick up from said customer.
Phone gets silent....and he hangs up.
Stupid idiot. I thought it smelled fishy all along and I guess I was right.
So, stay away from people named Jeff Larry, email of jeff.larry624@yahoo.com, claiming he is from Cleveland, Ohio and then calls from the country Ghana (Phone: 233245496014).
At first, we didn't think it was scam because normally they aren't as persistent as he was. Then today, the shipping thing just gave it away.
I'm looking for ways to report it but since he didn't try with a credit card, I don't know that we can.
