I can't seem to get them clean! I had the back rear caliper and brakes replaced about 2 weeks ago and then when I go to wash the car after many days of rain my wheel is caked in crap! What can I do to get this off???

Yup I would have to agree with Kieth.
Why do you have 3 chrome lugs and 2 black ones?
DO NOT use a scotch brite on your wheels. It will make them MUCH worse. I would try a little degreaser or wheel cleanner first and if that doesn't work I would try some turtle wax tar remover.
Yeah, don't ever use anything abrasive to clean ur wheels! Unless you like the scratched dull look.? Lol. Maybe try meguirs aluminum polish, but with anything ur trying, use a small amount in inconspicuous area first.
How'd the mechanic do that?
Biggest problem with people is commonly they don't look at anything until it comes back and they want to pay it attention. Then the guy that took a wheel off to fix something is to blame for something you may have driven through?
pressure washer and purple stuff
I wouldn't say stupid. It looks like brake dust or crud. Doesn't look like anything a mechanic may have done to make it look that way. I've worked as a mechanic and commonly people don't notice things until they get it back. It's becoming more common for mechanics to go over a car like a rental company does when a customer drops it off. That way they are covered against pre-existing stuff and being questioned for it.
Did cheap pads cause that, maybe.
Gee I think I made the comment because he admitted to it! He offered to buy the product I needed to clean it. He said he the wheel fell over and some crap got on it while he was working. Maybe this is why we should stick to topic and not the little comment as to how it happened.![]()
It would have helped all posting if you had mentioned it. And maybe mentioned what you thought it was instead of giving us a general pic that looks like standard brake dust.
