Or get a working one from Morad and not your local autoparts store junk MAF's.
The MAFs wee replaced by Goodwrench, but I guess thats not much better than junk.

04-08: More comfortable, not as old, drive by wire.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

Are the parts a lot more expensive or are they abou the same as 97-03?

So which model year of the last gen is known to be particularily good? 2004s are pretty cheap around my local area but I just assume they have more issues than an 06.

04 and 05 have different sway/lca setup from every other wbody. can be swapped to 97-03/06-08 setup for aftermarket parts. all 04's and half the 05's have the same crappy lim gasket that 97-03's have. All 06+ have aluminum. Parts cost about the same. If you want something you never have to touch when you get it, go for an 06.
