yeah sabre if you dont vote then u DO have no right to complain makes sense to me =]
STICKY WORTHY?? lol
Man...Can I get on this soapbox...hehe
Iraq..
I was there in the 90's for Desert Storm and Desert Shield. In my opinion Bush #1 screwed up. It was called the 100 hour war because Bush did not want to tick off the American people and our main goal was to get Iraq out of Kuwait. We pushed them all the way back to Baghdad then stoped. Talked all the locals into helping us get rid of Sudam and then left them High and Dry. Many locals were slaughtered because we left.
Now present day....Sudam gave his henchmen orderes to aquire chemical weapons. Because of the embargo they could not get their hands on them, and what General in his right mind would go to Sudam himself and say, "Sorry Sudam, we cant get them". That would be a sure death sentence, so they cooked the books so to speak. There was a huge paper trail that showed that they were aquiring all the tools required to make "weapons of mass destruction", and they not duped Sudam into believing it, they duped us as well. What you have to ask yourself is this. Is Iraq and the world a better place with Sudam gone? I think so. If we leave Iraq now, we will be back there in the next 10 years. All the service men and women who have died over there will be for what? Nothing, because we didnt finish the job we were sent there to do.
Oil...
Do you really think that the President controls oil prices? The biggest problem right now is the speculators. Oil prices are high now, so people are buying up the stock, which its basic supply and demand. There is a high demand for oil futures right now, and that is what is driving the price up. They have about hit the roof and should be coming down in the near future. Now something else to think about. I have heard so many liberals talking about "we cant drill our way out of high prices, because it will take 10 years to get the oil". If its going to take that long, then why dont we start drilling as a long term fix, and get that off the table and move on to a short term fix. As long as we have to depend on other countries for their natural resources we are going to have this problem. China and India are consuming oil at a higher rate than the US is, so if you think that lowering out consumption by driving Hybrids is going to lower the price of fuel, you better start convincing the rest of the world. The only way we can get prices down is to find our own oil. Just today it was announced that as soon as we announce that we are going to drill in ANWR, oil will drop 30%. Did you also know that China is drilling off the coast of Cuba (60 miles off the Florida Keys) and tapping into an oil pocket that extends to underneath Florida? Did you know that Congress and the state of Florida will not allow American oil companies to drill there and tap into the same pocket of oil? What’s wrong with this picture? Did you also know that when Nancy Pelosi took over Speaker Of The House, she said :
Her plan seams to be working well for big oil since they are recording record profits. I think we need to go back to the Republican plan, back then we were only paying a little over $2.00 per gallon. Here is a press release from Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi dated April 24, 2006 (prior to the 2006 election which gave Democrats control of both the House and Senate).
“With skyrocketing gas prices, it is clear that the American people can no longer afford the Republican Rubber Stamp Congress and its failure to stand up to Republican big oil and gas company cronies. Americans this week are paying $2.91 a gallon on average for regular gasoline – 33 cents higher than last month, and double the price than when President Bush first came to office.
“With record gas prices, record CEO pay packages, and record oil company profits, Speaker Hastert and the Majority Congress continue to give the American people empty rhetoric rather than join Democrats who are working to lower gas prices now.
“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”
You have to remember that there is a check and balance system in DC, so that the President cant rule the roost. With a Republican President and a Democratic Congress, nothing will get done. You cant blame Bush for everything, Congress approved the troops going over in the first place, and Congress is the one blocking the long term plans for oil, because they cant see past their own noses.

this man knows his stuff thats all i gotta say!
He's a lame duck right now almost anyway........
I voted for him, and I stand by my decision.......
well you know theres a difference between not voting because of laziness and not voting because you really cant see yourself voting for one of the candidates cause they do not represent your views now if he is the 2nd option i believe he can complain because he didn't get a choice that matched him but not voting just based on pure laziness is useless
It's America dude, however I decide to vote or not to vote is my decision.
I take care of my state and districts, where a vote makes a huge difference, not according to an electoral college. If I don't want to vote for president, then I don't have to....pain and simple. Call it useless if you want, but it's my choice.
I'm glad you mentioned this Reptile. That is another one of my pet peaves. The Electoral College. I can see its usefullness back in the days of the pony express or the Model T, but in todays day and age with with the ability of the major networks anouncing who the winner is as soon as the polls close (or before they close in some cases which is a NO NO), why do we need it. We should be using the popular vote and thats it. And what is this "Super Deligate, and did the people apoint them to be a "Super Deligate"? If not then its not really "for the people" or "by the people" then is it.
As far as voting goes.....its your choice and there is a reason they have voting booths. Its your choice to vote and also your choice to keep it private. I personally view my participation in voting as a civic duty and if you dont like the "Popular Choices" then do a write in, but you have to understand, I served 20 years defending the rights of Americans so this is why I feel its my duty (why put your life on the line, and be told by Congress and the President what to do and when to do it, then why not have a say in who is telling you..hahahaha)

its alright cause not voting is NOT the worse thing you can do there are a lot worse people out there it just means that either candidate is not identifying with you and therefore you feel non compelled to vote and as much as we have the right to do anything else everyone has that right to
Ha, this is one of the better political discussions I've come across on the car forums.... but let's face it, any thing is better then a slanted EJ bashs Bush post........
lol
there are a ton of good points floating around on here!
stupid people shouldnt be allowed to vote is what your saying ??? haha
I'm against voting being mandatory. I'd rather 100,000 educated and informed people vote than 15 million uninformed somewhat educated people vote.
Just my view.
yea this info is true DWOSIK
haha politics gotta laugh sometimes haha
Bush is a criminal, an so is his administration. GWB, stands for Goddamned Worthless Bastard. I don't have a lot of confidence in the current challengers, but a Special Olympics looser, couldn't do worst than Bush. Feel free to delete, if this is too radical.
