parts for our cars arent that expensive IMO.. look at the cost of modding and parts in general for imports and other american platforms.

I use money from one of my sidejobs for the car....I work a Saturday doing some landscaping, painting, or ripping a kitchen apart then use that money for toys...You never see the money so its not like you are losing anything, just your time for a sidejob.

when you have to spend $50+ for an air filter and $20+ for a basic PH series fram oil filter then you have the right to complain about parts.

    Really?

You should venture into some Nissan parts, if you want an even bigger shock check out BMW parts with Dinan motorsports.

Just got save for what you want. I live w/ my parents still but have a $100 phone bill. $348 car payment (yes gp isn't paid for yet) and $150 insurance.. Job pays ok but w/ gas and everything above it takes saving to get what I want.
Squirrels are my engine. I need a Ford Regal

I make a whooping 9.00 an hour. Take taxes out of that along with my 401k and insurance and its like 280 something a week. I have a child that i share custody of that I pay child support on, I have a car payment, 85 a month on insurance on the same car, and one Firestone credit card that I pay on. After I spend around 50-60 a week on gas I have a whole 130 dollars or so a month left. Thank god I have a woman that cares the world for me and is there for me during all of it. So its not all of us that are spending at all. At one point I was doing REAL good, but times change and you gotta roll with it or run off the road.

Im 19 living at home(200$/month rent.) Not going to school. Work 6 days a week with a decent paying job. Work pays for work vehicle, gas, and cell phone. My only expense is my car which still isnt that much, i go through maybe a tank and a half of gas a month.

I think prices are pretty cheap. Im a Installation Manager for a large window company in Washington DC. I make decent money. If I didnt have a house note id have a GP that would rivial Zoomers builds lol. All my cars are paid off. No real bills other then supporting 3 kids and the house costs

A good example would be shawn mayes. Has a 11.2 second grand prix with build cost of less than $2,000? I believe he said once, probably less. He has just been a member for so long and snagged parts for cheap over a lLONG period of time. XPZ cam, 130# springs on the intake and 105#? on the exhaust, stock timing chain, s2 intercooler that i believe was the most expensive part but still cheap, and his car was as basic as you can get GT. No sunroof, no electric ****, more weight reduction and that results in somewhere near 2800lb overall weight.

I buy most of my stuff used, but have the knowledge to tell whats good and what isn't. Matt M has said before that you can build a 8-9 second grand prix anymore for less than 10k. Knowledge is $$$$.

Just like everyone says, one piece at a time. I have money saved up but right now my house and family are my priority. It took me a few months of searching to get my bumper covers and side skirts. I'm still looking for exhaust stuff and other mods but haven't found a price I'm willing to pay for it all and I'm not going to low ball anyone either just to save a few dollars.

so many factors like some people have old cars that they are not making payments on anymore for starters or others can afford a far more expensive car but got a GP and can afford to upgrade it
