no, ive seen public schools. but they make poo man. for what its really worth, shouldn't (in theory) they make more than ANYONE? or at least a bit more than a measly 30-40k?

Apparently the people that support this straight up bulls**t dont have a teacher or school worker in you family. They put up with more s**t then you will ever have to and make less than alot of other people. The only reason you have teachers is because atleast they get good benifits. If you take away those benifits and make them pay more for them, then your childrens schooling will go right down the Sh**er. Plus do you guys realize if the union is broken class sizes will increase and the education system in every way will just loose strength. If the douchebag had mentioned this during the election he would never have been elected. In no way do i support alot of democratic stuff... but he is ruining peoples careers with his policies.

Well, either this bill gets passes or 6000 employees and teachers will be out on there ass. Dont complain when you have a job. There are plenty of people out there without one who would gladly pay a little extra for there benefits just to make 30-40k a year when there making 0. Not a huge supporter but something needs to be done.

There are excellent public schools out there, I'm a product of one. But that doesn't mean all my teachers were good. My history teacher has a reputation as showing up 10+ minutes late (to a 48 minute class), but he was a union teacher so they couldn't do anything about it. And I do not believe that privatizing schools is the solution. That's why so many students are so high in debt. I personally feel like most unions could be dissolved. Now I said most, not all.

Exactly. It's much easier for schools to toss the bad teachers back and forth. Something needs to change.

11.1% of WI workforce is Union. Not a significant amount. If you dont want to be union, don't take a job with a union contractor or under a union contract. Times are tough for everyone. People characterize union workers as lazy and incompentent. Like with any collective group a few bad apples spoil the bunch. I've been a union member for over 6 years and I enjoy the pay and benefits and I won't allow anyone to tell me I don't deserve them. Joe Blow can't walk in off the street to do my job either. I take that back, he could but statistics show the work isn't done as safely or up to industry standards. I'm not here to start a pissing match, just wanted to give my .2 and stand up for myself, a union member. Thank you

And to think that the majority go to public schools here and if you're from the same province you get provincially subsidized schooling.

In other words your tuition is cut in half for post secondary education.

School is very expensive but the idea that everything should be privatized invites the entire ZZP style warranty into play.

People are having their insurance dropped because their cars are modified even though the company had prior knowledge of it.

Move onto more important things.

Sure unions have too much power, but going private isn't the solution.

If you think private companies are so much better explain the big three.

Arguing the line workers stole all of the money wont work because Ford managed to save itself. GM didn't. Management is key.

In other words, unions should DROP COVERAGE for members who dont deserve to be covered.

But that pulls back to the "what am I paying for" concept that i suggested with the ZZP warranty and the insurance coverage issues.

paying half of the national average for insurance, having awesome pensions after a short career, etc. are what is ruining things. this is what the unions are being taking away to lobby against. this is what needs to be done.

They rnt getting handouts.... the teachers dont deserve to have to lose their benifits. One main reason to take that crappy ass pay is because you get good benifits... and you want to help people.

Statistic for you guys
Only 5 states have non-union public schools
their ranks on act scoring last year we 44, 47, 48, 49, and 50.

pay them a little better, then make them pay for their insurance around the same rate as the rest of the country and give them a match into a 401k like everyone else in the world. make them work for retirement, not let them coast into it with glittering eyes knowing they put a whole 20 years into the job to make a butt load upon retirement.

I agree but they dont want to pay them any more. My mother works in a school, and they want to up insurance 600/mo if this goes through. And they will not be handing out raises.
