Well, I play lord of the rings online, or I used to before I unintentionally got a life. I enjoy it quite a bit. Previously I played FFxi and enjoyed it but when I was playing it the heavy reliance on always being in a party burned me out really fast. It only takes a couple times of sitting there waiting 10 hours for a full party before you're done.
I haven't tried out xiv yet but I'm sure updates will improve the game over the next few months. I think square-enix went too far in the wrong direction. They got all of the complaints regarding ffxi and basically went in the complete opposite direction with things thinking this would go over big and it hasn't. With ffxi, they eventually made some changes that made it a much better game and I'm sure they'll do the same with ffxiv eventually.
