Hey today i went for a cruise in my friends ls1 trans am. I was pretty suprised to feel how much power it was putting out stock. I almost was discouraged that my GTP will never make the power that his ls1 is putting out. Although i've seen a gtp beat a ws6 trans am on youtube which surprised the **** out of me. The GTP claimed to only have a full 3.4 set up. I wasn't sure if it was true. But i refuse to give up on my GTP seeing that i only have Headers and a CAI installed, plus i love my car. Can anyone give me a honest answer as to what mods it would take to keep up with a ls1 if it's possible. Because that thing can burn rubber into second gear...thanks

my buddy had a 2001 gtp with headers, crazy tune, 3.2 pulley, larger injectors, upgraded ported TB, and E85 and he was beating the 2001-2002 non subercharged mustang cobras. So.....he might have held up to a T/A?

I see, and Wulfpack sorry for saying that your answer was bad. I was asking what mods can be done to the GTP to get it on par with the ls1 ws6 and your answer kind of neglected the question completely and was discouraging. But thanks for the try buddy.

The earlier N/A Cobras get walked by LS1 cars.

I have a 3.4 pulley setup and from a 60 roll, my buddy's lid/muffler LS1 car pulled a car and a half on me...maybe two cars. He runs a 13.4 1/4 and I'm in the low, low 14's...if it's any help to the OP.

my LT1 will beat the N/A cobras stock.

but i am surprised that that y'all say the GTP will run with the LS1 with the right mods, makes me ready to finish fixing mine since i haven't even drove it yet.

low 13's are possible on a pretty stout m90 build, you'll be about maxed out of what you can do. if you're gunning for LS1's then a turbo setup will get you there easier.

or you can be zzp and go twin turbo and not give an LS1 a chance lol

No I'm not worried bout it beating LS1's at all i just want a semi reliable quick car for a DD, I'm figuring to stop at a 3.4 pulley with supporting mods and call it a day. I'll spend the real money on the LT1.

I was about dead even with a cts-v, not sure if it was an ls6 or ls2, I'm guessing ls6 that was with 16* of timing on a really cool night, 60 mph punch up to 100, dead even.

Don't count on it, thats why i have my Z and a GTP.

it's not worth all the bucks to just beat 1 car, make a 3.4 car and be happy to kill most cars on the road
trust me my Gtp is a reliable dd, my camaro however is getting to close to being ONLY a track car from how it runs and performs.
