okay so they think i got a gun waitin to pull the trigger....i could have my buddy in the back seat where there are no tint laws put his window down and get him from there!!!...that makes no sense...if a guy was gonna shoot a cop as he was walking up to the car he would do it no matter how dark or light the tint was...thats a stupid reason for tint....i can see the other reason being more true tho so they can identify the driver...but why do they need to be able to see the driver...i do no harm in my car i dont smoke anything...he dont need to know who the hell i am and if he's so curious run my ****in tags and he'll figure it out!!!

OK It seems a tint ticket rant pops up on one of the forums im on weekly
If its not legal in your state You will at some point get pulled over
That being said yes there are dick cops out there But anything illegal gives them the right to pull you over
That way they can check out who you are and so on A lot of bigger busts have been made by random traffic stops

As far as cops giving people a buffer on speed Its not going to be happening as much the states need moeny so 5 miles over the limit is money to them tint tickets ,cars to low or to high, anything they can pull you oer for they will

Ive had my gp almost a year now and have illegal tint In ca we arent even allowed our front door windows tinted past like 70-80% or some bs like that

When i think about crooked a$$hat cops im thinking more like the cops that beat the crap outta that kid, Or the cop that shot that dude while saying he would taz him.. Not bs tickets

With dark tint its harder for them to see whats going on in the car and how to react to teh situation
But in the end laws are laws follow them or dont but dont get pissed when you get caught up

I don't know man.. In MI you can have the Darkest Tint in the world on your back windows, but only a 4" strip on the front windows. Yea that's all fine and dandy, but who says I don't have people in the back? What if they're the ones with the gun? Of course it's perfectly legal to have the tint back there. So I find it hard to believe that the reason they don't allow tint is so they can identify you, I mean, there could be people in the back, and nothing says they have to be visible. I don't know, there seem to be a lot of holes in this "tint rule".

i understand the cop was a dick...but at the same time if its illegal he has a reason to pull you over regardless what the other ppl on the road are doing. Ill be willing to bet if somebody else got pulled over theyd say why didnt you pull over the guy with the super dark tint?

Come on dude, YOU are the POS! How could the cop forget you after a run in like that! Your windows are totally illegal! Get over it. You broke the law, got a ticket and now the cop that is doing his job is crooked? Not only him but all other cops too? It sounds like you have a serious attitude problem that needs professional attention.

I have 5% and have been hassled only 3 or 4 times (knock on wood) and here they all want you to peel it on the spot. I have found that when I tell them to write me the ticket, because I would rather have it "porfessionally" removed, rather than f*ck up my windows, like scratching them or having that sticky crap that will gum up my window seals, and not allow me to see anything in or out, until I get home to clean it anyways, they seem to let me go without the ticket or peeling it! (for now, until the same cop catches up with me again.....)
But anyways, I dont agree with their excuse for tint laws. Like what was earlyer stated, there could be a d*ck with a gun in the back seat as easily as the front seat!!! All cop cars have a megaphone in them, and if they are worried about getting shot, why cant they tell you to get out of the car, BEFOR they get anywhere near it!! But thats just my $0.02

I don't think it should be a reason to pull you over.... if you are speeding and get pulled over, and the cop notices tint, then they can write you up. I think its a waste of time and money to just get someone for that. Especially with someone else speeding right in front of you... That is a worse offense in my opinion, especially in a construction area. Cops just like sexy cars. Here in Washington they cant pull you over for being on the phone unless they pulled you over for something else (or at least till this June). That makes more sense to me.

And as far as talking about the crooked cop, I agree with bbp, but he isnt being a dick for writing you a ticket for illegal tint.... he was being an ass with how he talked to you. It was unprofessional and unecessary and I hate people that abuse power. Just like my high school teachers if your gonna talk **** to me im gonna stand up for myself.

Tell me why then only the drivers window must work in Ontario for your car to pass a safety.

**** doesnt make sense, but some things are logical such as, being able to identify any potential danger without doing excessive things such as using a megaphone as well as being able to identify the driver of a vehicle easily.

yes, like it should be more of a secondary offense. I guess i should reword the post about being crooked. I know my tint is illegal and am fine with that. Who doesnt ever break the law. I find it bull how they treat others is all. The ticket is whatever. Whats done is done. Its the fact that he was rude and lied to me when he walked up then tells me a whole different reason of how he knows me. When he pulled me over for the speeding, there was nothing about tint said. Ive been pulled over 1 other time previously from this time for tint and he for sure was not the same guy.

Sorry I didnt see this sooner. Moved this topic to the Rants Forum.

As for the tint laws. Each state varies, and if you go below the registered and get pulled over and checked, don't be surprised. Don't think they are out to get JUST YOU, you took the gamble, and you lost. Chalk it up to, you tried and got caught. Move on.

I am a former Police Officer, I under the need for tint laws, but some are to strict, but if you are running with 5% tint all around? Expect to be pulled over sooner or later. Myself, I have 5% in my back three and 20% in driver and passanger front windows. That is 15% darker than is allowed my Missouri law. Am I gonna be pissed I got caught? No, sure I will be bummed cause I gotta remove it and have 35% installed, but I have been running this combo for almost 3 years now, so I rest easy I had a good run with it

So please don't go blaming the Officer or Trooper for own malice when it comes to tinting your windows beyond what the law clearly states.

I understand where your coming from GeddyLee, the thing that bothers me is sure it's illegal because they say it is, but honestly, what's the harm that's coming from having tinted windows WHILE DRIVING?

    It's like,
"Oh man there goes somebody following the speed limit and obeying the law, OH NOEZ he has window tint, and there goes somebody speeding, who do I pull over? Who is the bigger risk to other peoples lives?"

I'm fine with getting a ticket for window tints. I understand that it's illegal. I'm not fine with a cop going out of his way to pull me over JUST for window tints. I can understand if I did something else like turning on red, or speeding, or running a stop sign, then it's fine if I get pulled over for those things and get issued a ticket for the tints also, not just get pulled over for window tints when your not doing anything harmful.. that's what I hate.

First of all it wasnt nice of me to call your a POS. That was a judgment I didn't have the right to make. However, I won't back down from the rest of my post. You need to understand that their are consequences for braking the law. You have no business being upset.

Just the other night I was tuning a 12sec regal on a desolate 4 lane and he hit 90mph in a 45mph when we saw a cop in the center lane with lights off. We braked and thought we were screwed for sure. We did evasive legal manuevers and i was looking back the whole time and saw he never pursued. After thinking about it, he was probably just out there looking for people with illegal tint that night...
