Supposedly they have the laws so that an approaching officer can see inside the car to tell if you may have something dangerous inside the vehicle they need to know about. (A shot gun aimed at them, for example...)

I understand what you are saying but my tint is only 50% so you can still see very clearly into the car

every cop has their pep-pee in violations of the law that drives them to this type of enforcement. some cops work the day shift so window tint dont really offend them, so long as they can identify the occupants and activity in the vehicle. a cop that work the night shift, the visibility through window tint is deminished so he is more likely to cite everyone who has window tint. now the reason behind it all!!!!! the cop has to see a action and make a reaction. that reaction sometimes have to be a split second decision whether to use lethal force or less lethal force. we are all human and would all make mistakes, but that cop wants to go home to his little girl, little boy, wife and all the family that depends on him. even if that means answering the next day to why he shot you dead after a motor vehicle stop! you may have all the respect for law enforcement, but there are people that hate them just as much. statistics show that most cops are killed on traffic stops than in a shoot out, robbery etc. last but least, your mouth is sometimes your most dangerous weapon when you are pulled over, and to the cop the pen hurts more than the hands. IF YOU HAVE WINDOW TINT ROLL ALL YOUR WINDOWS DOWN EVEN IF ITS MINUS 10 DEGREES OUTSIDE. DRIVER PLACED BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL 10 AND 2 O'CLOCK. HAVE ALL OCCUPANTS NOT MOVE AROUND. ON THAT OFFICERS APPROACH BE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL. THEN DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD! LET THE OFFICER KNOW WHERE YOU ARE REACHING AND FOR WHAT YOU ARE REACHING FOR. IF YOU BELEIVE YOU WERE PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING YOU CAN RESPOND, "OFFICER, AM SORRY, BUT WAS I GOING ALITTLE TO FAST, OR OK, AM VERY SORRY FOR THAT". BE APOLOGETIC, AND DONT STOP SAYING ENOUGH YES SIR, NO SIR. COPS RECOGNIZED ALL OF THIS BY OPERATORS, BECAUSE IT IS WHAT THEY LOOK FOR SO MAKE THEM COMFORTABLE. remember you have some control OF THE OUTCOME, but the cop would have the ultimate decision whether you get a ticket or not. if you do get a ticket, take it, still be respectful and once again apoligize. especially if its your neighborhood police dept or where you oftenly travel. they would remember your flashy grand prix before they remember you again! they would more likely bypass you the next time or let you off with a warning!

That's good advice, right there. Most importantly, be sure you do nothing to make the officer feel uncomfortable. Dome light on at night is a good idea, too. These things are especially important if you're carrying a loaded firearm or if someone with you is doing so.

I swear tint must just be a completely subjective thing for police. I've had 5% on the mustang since the first week we have owned it (wife's car) she gets pulled over freequently for dumb things but never once for tint. Indiana is 20% for being legal iirc. I had 5 on my car before my GS and no trouble either. Plently of speeding tickets but not for tint.

its just another way for te state to make money, city cops dpnt care too much about tint, but staties will get you for the stupidest things, like TINT.
