So I took my GTP to the shop to replace some suspension parts and I had to borrow my aunt's old Mercury. I cannot describe how much lack of attention this car has, but the thing that blew me off is that even though it's running a ford V8 it still gives 21MPG! I reset the computer before I drove it to work today and to the autoparts store and that's the final result of the trip.

The check engine light is on and the engine doesn't run smoothly while stopped and it sometimes even knocks haha, so I guess if I fix it I might even get higher mileage out of it.

    Check out these pictures:

My 98 GTP is doing like 18 MPG in the city, so I guess I should drive an old V8 everyday to work and the GTP on weekends? hahaha.

Have you watched the instant economy? 21 city is good, wouldn't be revving much. I know those cars like to float along. Our camaro can get 22mpg highway. lol. town cars are supposed to get about 30mpg highway with the same motor.

Keep your foot out of the GTP and you can get much better mileage.

LoL so true. Each time I drive the GTP I make the purpose of not flooring it, but it's too much temptation for me.

Interesting how many mpg related posts come up in the winter. I know you live in Mexico, so I guess it is just by chance. In my book a S/C v6, has always got the mpg of a comparable N/A v8. Just look at the GXPs, basically the same mpg as a GTP. So I guess it would only surprise people who have never really compared them. More over, DIC mpg indications are notoriously inaccurate. Most all of them add a little mpg, because no manufacturer in their right mind would make them read conservatively. Think about it.

Ten years of continuous driving excitement and counting!

I could get similar gas mileage in my fox-body Lincoln that could manage 13's naturally aspired to the GTP.
