What happens when your in 1st go up to redline and release? I've done this and the muffler bubbles like crazy and the car feels like it's braking gradually for some reason. Can't be good for the trans..
My old Monte Carlo used to upshift automatically in first gear but not second, and I pushed to the limit a few times before replacing the tranny. 4T60-E FTW.
Leave it in 3rd when racing.
Drive, you wont make it out of 3rd at the track, and I know my car wont shift till about 120 at wot. thats kinda fast for highway racing.
Well from my learning experience and from experimenting anytime I have an opportunity to race from a 35/34 roll I will the car has a very nice passing gear. Just leave it in regular drive w/o performance shift for some reason if felt better w/o it, but if depends on the situation
Bah, I hit 4th gear twice WOT on the freeway racing my friends VW R32, I would smoke him by 2-3 lengths until I hit 4th then he'd gradually pull by. It's not necessary to hit 4th, but sure is fun. 4th gear usually came to me at about 145-150 mph, after that there is relatively no pull.
Hmmm, now I know why the 4th clutch went byebye....
4th clutch didn't go bud. 4th was fine and I did this prior to knowing how fragile it was. It was the torque converter clutch that locked sporadically that tore my trans up. I did it twice, just throwing it out there, and will never hit it again. That was a long time ago.
i try real hard to make my car move faster than the other....
^dont forget to remove the left headlight for super wicked air flow!
