Ok well let's really get down to it.
    GM offers more
Ford-mustang,svt focus....wow lots of high performance there
GM-T/A,camaro,Grand Prix,G8,GTO,newer cobalts (t/c), and probably more I'm forgetting. So there it is, GM has more high performance cars. I'm missing alot but idc my personal opinion is that GM is a better company and makes better cars. Ever been in a mustang? Plastic EVERYTHING. Call me ignorant but I could care less. My opinion

From a performance standpoint who cares? Oh boy ford has great milage cars! That's why they aren't bankrupt, they lose everything. Toyota wins in mpg, gm wins performance. And all ford does is add **** to the mustang. How bout thinkin outside the box and make a NEW car?

I dont mean to burst anyones bubble but youre really not comparing two cars here on the same level. To compare a gt500 to anything, would have to be chevrolet's corvette Z06. The camaro as anyone knows is compared to a mustang.

Look at it this way, for the highest performance GM offers the Corvette, Dodge had the Viper, and Ford has the Mustang. The corvette and viper are on the same level but the mustang is compared to the camaro and challenger, GM and Dodge's runners up. So ford's best performance car is compared to GM and Dodge's second best.

FYI, when Top Gear had the GT500 they put it on a dyno. Got 440hp out of it, not 500

Here's a quick list I came up with say..from the mid to late 80's until now. I didn't include EVERY model version (IROC, RS, Firebird, etc etc etc) because, well...that's just dumb.

    GM/Chevrolet/Pontiac
    Corvette
    G8 GT
    GTO
Grand National (I'm so sorry, dear baby Jesus, I hope you can forgive me)
    Trans Am WS6
    Camaro SS
    Malibu SS
    Grand Prix GTP
    Cobalt SS
    Cavalier Z24
    Fiero GT
    Sprint Turbo (yes...I said it)

    Truck/SUV
    Trailblazer SS
    Silverado SS
    Typhoon
    Cyclone
454 SS (wow...that took me back...)

    Dodge/Jeep

    Viper
    Challenger SRT/8
    Charger SRT/8
    SRT/4
    Shadow Turbo
    Daytona Turbo
Omni GLH (freaky little sleeper, actually)

    Truck/SUV

    Ram SRT8
    Cherokee SRT8

    Ford

    GT
    Mustang SVT Cobra
    Mustang GT (Shelby, Roush)
    Taurus SHO
    Contour SVT
Probe GT (yes, that just happened)
Escort GT (yes, that too, just happened)

    Truck/SUV

    Lightning
Roush F150 (does this even count??)

So - call it re-badging, over-branding...whatever; but GM/Chevy/Pontiac have produced far more mainstream "performance" cars than any other domestic company.

    I need 800mg of ibuprofen now...and some Pepto Bismal...bleh.
