I hired a lawyer, it's costing me $1500, and basically they're going to apply me to a program called "acceleration rehab", which is just like getting put on probation. It could be any where for 6 months to 2 years, if I don't get arrested during that time period, the reckless driving charge gets completely erased, I go June 11th.

So your going to "fight" a ticket....Can you not just ask for a civil penalty? Here if you dont have anything on your record the Judge can give you a civil penalty as in if you dont get any moving violations in the next 6months it don't go on your record. I know my xhubby got a wreckless driving for spinning his tires pulling outta the WET carwash!!! And the Judge granted him the civil penalty and he has 3 speeding tickets! LOL. I dunno..IMO its stupid to fork out money for a lawyer on something you know you did and even if it does go on your record I doubt your insurance would go up near the amount you spent on paying for a lawyer. But good luck!

EDIT: O and to ask for a Civil Penalty you dont need a lawyer! You just say "Can I have that has a civil penalty" Judge ask if you have anything on your record and so on...

$1,500 is a bit steep, mine only cost me $750..was supposed to be $1,000 but my second cousin knew him so that apparently justifies a discount lol.

I have a couple of speeding tickets on my record, so I hired a lawyer to "safegaurd" my license, because I know if I walk in there by myself i'm going to screw something up and surley walk out with suspended license. The program they're applying my to will wipe it away if I don't get arrested in the amount of time they give me. A moving violation would not violate the terms of the probation, to violate I would have to get arrested for a crime or another reckless driving (I made sure to understand this correctly), which i'm gonna do my best to aviod. I live in a very expensive town where $750,000 gets you a crappy rundown house, unfortunately everything is expensive around here $1500 is about the flat rate lawyers charge around here for a basic case, I just need to do everything I can to avoid suspention, being I have my own business and need to drive, and if that charge does hit my record, I don't even want to know what the insurance will be on my 3 cars.

I happen to know a thing or two about the Ct law, and troop G staties.
You could and most likely will get AR, with a fine. You could talk to the prosecuter first, ask about pleading no contest, in exchange for AR, a donation to a court approved charity ( I've seen them as low as $50 ), and wiping it off your record. The fact that you didn't get cuffed and stuffed ( with the car being towed ) means you weren't a prick to the trooper. Good for you.

Good luck. And watch out for those troopers. They're sneaky SOBs!! I've heard rumors that there cars can levitate, and that's how they suddenly appear behind you!! I think they have some sort of cloaking device too!

Well I went to court today and I was the first one called up, basically my lawyer filled out the form the acceleration rehab program which I had to sign. I went before the judge, I was asked to verify my name, address and to agree that I understand the terms of the program if I am accepted. So I just had to pay a $35 fee for applying to the program and I go back on July 2nd to see if i'm approved (which is basically gauranteed based on my record) and the sentencing will take place that day. I spent 10 mins actually in the court room and it took 30 mins to get the paperwork in the clerks office to pay the fee, go figure.

I'm behaving for now, I have been planing to buy a vette soon, but I think i'm going to put that on the back burner for now until this is all over. I think if I get a vette now it won't be long before my license goes bye bye. I gotta stay on the DL for awhile.
