Got my sisters 2006 chevy equinox right now, hell everything was wrong with it, 101k miles, changed spark plugs, wires, front axles, wheel bearings, tie rods, control arms, struts on front, shocks on back. Also replaced the lock cylinder, this is my problem, the only thing wrong with it was both front axles were bad, from what? Who knows. My sister probably ran something over.
I got everything for 600$, better than the cost of replacing one axle at a shop. Everythings in the car now, but this damn ignition lock cylinder, pissing me off.
I got it in, both the keys started the vehicle right away, so i put trim back on, and now it doesn't do anything when I try to turn it over, the lights go out, and you hear a click like the batterys dead. Thats not the issue, I have tried jump starting it with two different vehicles, a 07 yukon, and a 01 grand prix. Both times did nothing to help my problem. I have left battery charger on it on 12/2, and have tried 12/6 charging.
Now, i have tried removing the negative battery cable and that reset the pcm, but then the security light comes on when you try to turn it over, the oem keys did not have a chip in them, and neither do the new set of keys. I am just able ready to throw the old one back in, and let my sister cross her fingers she is able to turn the key over, it would stick and not turn.
The security light does not turn off, it said that it should go off after 10 mins, then turn off for 30 seconds then back on, and do that a total of 3 times for it to learn the key, but theres no chip in the key, so i am really confused. And angry
