First post, and... I'm sure some of you have heard this before because from what research I've done it's a fairly common issue. Though I haven't found a particular fix.

Anyways... my 05 Base Grand Prix has a problem. Every time I get in, and try to start it, it dies right away. I have to give it some gas to keep it from dying, or.. try it a second time. The second time almost always stays running. Same thing if I try to use the remote start. The first time, it dies right away. So on and so forth.

    Any suggestions/knowledge?

Remove and clean the entire throttle body. Clean the MAF with approved MAF cleaner. Clean up the IAC (idle air control) as well. Reinstall and call it good.

Also, when was the last tune-up done?

    Will do.

And I've owned it since March of this year, it's currently at 101k, and to my knowledge... never. I need to change the plugs and plug wires asap.

Just grab some lifetime warranty wires from any parts store, and some stock irridium plugs. Gap to .060. Should be pre-gapped but double check them all.

Cleaned the throttle body, fixed the issue. Thing was disgusting. Lol

Now I just gotta figure out how to restore my lost power and get my fuel economy out of the toilet.

    do the fuel filter yet?

it does seem odd that your mpg went down, does it feel like its running better? faster stronger?

maybe your getting on it a bit more now that it feels good/better?

you should have a in line filter, by the drivers side back wheel area under the car.

there is a filter in the gas tank. but its really just a sock to keep large stuff out of the pump.
