Wooo hooo...something to put in the case!

I took a month or two of Newegg email special deals to build my pc. Saved a ton and got pretty good stuff overall.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Don't worry about it Josh, some people get really hard up on one brand.

Despite what my Avatar suggests, I run Intel in my laptop, I am not really biased.

AMD puts up numbers that are pretty damn close or even better than the i7-2600k in some cases (not bad for a processor about 75$ cheaper.

Intel or AMD; your still going to have PC, a kick ass at that.

    BTW the hierarchy is i7 > FX 8c > i5 > *

Benchmark rigs are like the trailer queens of vehicles. Yes, they show differences in cpu architecture and raw computational performance. But you also have to remember that most "daily drivers" don't do anything THAT intensive. Hard drives and poor installation/setup are the #1 offense for systems that appear "slow" and "unresponsive".

Anybody will be fine with AMD or Intel. Don't let trailer queens pick your hardware.

Your link was very informative...I'm not downing it. Just want people to keep things in perspective. If you had well thought hardware and software installation from both Intel and AMD I bet people couldn't figure out what was what in an A-B comparison

So if zzp headers on a dyno make 65hp and wbs headers on a dyno make 53hp. What would you buy?

I sized my rig smart. I took what I needed it for. Gaming. Why spend soo much on parts like CPU and GPU and ram when it's never fully utilized in actual gameplay? Sure my hardives are not SSD but I'm fine with that Benchmarks can be huge if you know how to use them If your going to put a lot of money into something , would t it be nice to know what your getting out of it?

I don't think that's the correct comparison. I was attempting to make reference to purpose built machines that only do one thing fairly well vs. a machine that does MANY things well(daily driver).

Again, to each their own. But I've seen many PC conversations turn into meaningless debates about "ultimate" parts lists. I've seen those same builds become cripped with poor installation methods.

Operating systems and software need to be tuned to some extent for the hardware; just as overclocks and bios should be setup to take advantage of hardware characteristics. When you get the 1st one right, the benchmarks associated with the second don't matter as much since the end user experience meets the expectation...Apple comes to mind on that one :> Not the best, not the worst...but most consumers LOVE the experience(snappy response imo)

synthetics dont matter if its a gaming rig.

    performance in games matters.

And the summary is: some games run better on different architectures.

Thus there is no "better" side.

I think my original guidelines still stand here.
