there are a couple of us that have run it. honestly, its not the best cam for any build. it's a real top end cam and has never proven to make any crazy numbers for what it claims.
feel free to search around in the other sections for more information.
lol im going to run a 3.0 pulley or smaller intercooler , built trans, headers, exhaust ext so im sure it will be ok at least i hope so if not ill just sell it
Hopefully you know the specs of the cam, and what lift's it's going to be making.
Also, probably going to have to beef up the valve-springs too, and either change out the timing chain/damper, or go to a double roller, etc.
Also, you're gonna need someone who can tune the car, running that small of a pulley, different injectors, intercooler, etc.
Where you located in ohio?
ya i read that i wouldnt have to get any head job done if i bought the kit that came with springs and retainers something like that
Where you located in ohio?
canton
out toward louisville of 62
you need milled valve guides, #150 springs at least, double roller, and ported heads to have a cam that performs crappier than one you dont need all that crap for.
ya i ended up canceling order too much work involved with those cams but ya my mom lives in massillon thats were i used to live when i was younger i went to good old jackson a few years back
I love posts like this.
Because you say you can run a S1X with higher lift rockers and don't need milled guides...but running a Thrasher Cam you need milled guides...considering the lift on a TEP cam is quite less than that of an S1X with higher ratio rockers.
Get your facts straight.
This is why I comment on your stuff, its all wrong. Also, it performs better than my XP did...and it IS a nice higher RPM performer where the 3800 lacks quite a bit, especially on a blower build. You also do NOT need #150 springs; I'm running 130's. They did the job quite fine. Reptile is running a cam larger than the TEP and he is using a stock chain/dampner...the ONLY reason I ran a double roller was to let the car idle super low. Dave is running 130's and a stock chain/dampner on his RWD 3800 build.
I am begining to think you are actually retarded.considering the lift on a TEP cam is quite less than that of an S1X
trasher lobe lift = 354
S1x lobe lift = 321
Also... Would 130s work? Yes, they probably would, they probalby wouldnt coil bind if you had the 650 lift ones from manley or whatever. They will float when running a stock rocker past 5800rpms.
Please ask me how many TEP cam cars I have built and tuned, please.
You expect me to sit here and believe that when you cut out the REST OF MY POST?
S1X wouldn't be @ 321 if your running higher ratio rockers.
Please, tell me how many of the cars you built exploded...like all your budget build cars that pop and crap their entire bottom ends out in the oil pan and you say "oh, that was a cheap motor...we knew it wouldn't work"...everytime.
Keep going, it is entertaining.
You must have some magical rockers because I have never seen a rocker increase the lobe lift of a cam before.S1X wouldn't be @ 321 if your running higher ratio rockers.
The average chump running stock rockers and 130# springs on a TEP cam is going to see ~600-605 peak lift.
