Aeroforce guage by far.
|
Aeroforce only reads oil pressure properly on GM V8s. It gives some crazy reading on the 3800. Doesn't do fuel pressure either (but does have analog inputs). Get a single Aeroforce and your oil pressure gauge. Done.![]()
I don't know if this is the latest model, but Aeroforce thread CGP This concerns me as I've been waiting almost two weeks for one.
What more is there? The oil pressure gives you some crazy 6k+ PSI reading. They say on their site the oil pressure value is only for some GM V8 vehicles. And it doesn't read fuel pressure.
Since you got the oil pressure sender accessory, yours should work. But it can't use the stock oil pressure sender over the OBD2 bus. Not sure why since my stock oil pressure gauge works just fine.

I didn't read the whole thread but the aeroforce guage pulls its power from the obd2, but if its like mine, a 2001, the obd2 in mine does not supply power. All you have to do is wire it up on a seperate accessory power and your fine. That thread was probably either from a bad guage, which they fix for you, or that the dual guages can't run off of one obd2 power.
The data rate on the aeroforce is pretty damn good, I set it to mpg and everytime I let off it's instant, it's really reversed some of my driving styles, some places I wouldn't expect getting 10mpg, so I figure out what gear and rpms are best.
Not only does it display multiple readings from your car's computer, you can pull diagnostic codes, calculate 1/4 times/speeds fairly accurate, set led lights to come on at a certain perameter and value, (hit 10+ boost = red led), view engine misfires for each cylinder, run a scan cycle instead of just displaying 2 parameters, a/d inputs and tons of other stuff that I don't use.
Then how does the Powrtuner interface work on your year model? The big black box pulls its power from the OBD2, not the laptop.

(before my most recent mods and tune)
And I have my annunciator lights set for 3* or more of KR.
Never used the powertuner on mine, but I don't see how it wouldn't work. It just needs to relay the data.
The 1/4 mile feature takes some finessing, but once you understand how it works and don't break the tires open too much, it was almost dead on my actual time/speed.
One person wouldn't be a big deal. Most people know about the potential to have to hook up the switched hot wire. The concern was the amount of people with issues recently. Seems kind of hit or miss. My recommendation is if you purchase one, install it right away, in case there is a problem.
Agreed. I still wouldn't hesitate to get another set. I absolutely love them, and as far as the fuel pressure is concerned....our cars have no sensor on the fuel system to say what it is, that's why you have to install your own sending unit/gauge setup.
Just because one guy gets his panties in a bunch doesn't mean that they make junk stuff. I reiterate what I said about the company and Pat himself...they are very easy to deal with, and I've had to send mine in for warranty once....I even got a set of the new ones with the LED's.
Keep in mind, I got in on the original group buy on clubgp years ago.
Gotcha, yeah the GP sender is only for the dummy light on the dash and it's a switch not a sensor.
The one they supply in their kit is just an aftermarked OP sensor for a 05 Vette and the associated harness. I opted to get the Delco part instead of aftermarket so it was a little more expensive but I'll feel better about it.
PNs:
12573107 sensor
88988301 connector
But it needs power to do so. It pulls that power from the OBD2 port (you can plug it up to the car only and the red light on it starts to blink).
It's the same sensor that's in my car. When GM built a 3800, they didn't know what car it was going in to. It's just that your car doesn't have a built in gauge in the cluster to read it. The PCM knows the exact oil pressure in your engine. The Interceptor just isn't set up to read it on our cars, but it works on V8 cars.
