To the 04'+ guys:
The 97-03 GPs have a voltage dropping DRL diode to lower the low beam brightness and also not affect the life of the bulb significantly. The bulbs are still wired in parallel. The 04+ DRL circuit MAY be switching the low beam bulbs from parallel to series wiring, which would normally drop each bulb to ~6.4VDC. Tungsten lightbulbs do not care if they are wired in series or parallel. Transformers DO, and could very well be damaged. I might suggest uninstalling your HID ballasts until you can disable the DRLs.
Post me some schematics of the 04+ DRL circuit, and I'll see what I can do for you...
